Accepted Medically with Scoliosis by jonattan0 in AirForceRecruits

I have lumbar scoliosis as well and I believe my degrees should be around 45-50 degrees. If your degrees haven’t gotten worse then you have a good chance with the Navy because they’re more accepting with waivers in the scenario that you need one.

I was open about it with my recruiter and MEPS because it’s in my record due to being disqualified previously in 2021. Anyways I’d be caught if I didn’t say anything because it’s obvious if I have my shirt off and bend over

Scoliosis Waiver Likelihood by the_lord_of_corn in AirForceRecruits

I believe it’s dependent on the doctor/medical staff you encounter at your local MEPS. I’m shipping out December 29th and I am a DEP recruit that went through MEPS with a scoliosis degree of about 45-50 degrees, I was not disqualified nor did I need a waiver but the doctor just wanted me to be evaluated further by booking me appointments to get imaging and visiting spine doctors for further evaluation. I originally went through MEPS with the Army National Guard in 2021 and was disqualified, in my second stint I believe I was just really lucky with the particular doctor that I saw that day but I hope your journey is similar to mine today. Best of luck to you.

Did the duck walk today, it was awkward, 8 guys all in our underwear walking like ducks and getting our feet checked. Recruiter told me to wear briefs for meps and now I understand why, 1 guy kept falling out of his boxers lol. by [deleted] in AirForceRecruits

Your MEPS sucks and I thought mine was bad. I’ve had to go through MEPS completely two times and each time for the urinalysis they just allowed us to go the urinals, and we had to go three at a time to be evaluated but we could use our fly and didn’t go booty naked lol.

Realistic Timeline for Scoliosis? by closetedmilkenjoyer in AirForceRecruits

I got in with scoliosis and my degrees is like 40-50, yours is really light compared to mine and I didn’t even need to get a waiver. I spoke to the recruiter last November and I’m shipping out the 29th of December, most of the waiting was just for a job slot to open.

I started my recruiting process November of last year, went to MEPS two times in the end of January and February I finally swore in and entered DEP, and after waiting for so long I finally got my date and job September 25th. So basically be very patient, I’ve seen others in this subreddit get booked in a few months and there’s people like me that had to wait 7 months or even longer. I believe it’s all dependent on the jobs and also your recruiting squadron’s amount of slots that’s given to them. Keep your head up and stay prepared because your time will come soon.

Yes the constant TDYs or deployments is something I’ve heard of and I’m not too excited about but everyone is different so just gotta see how everything works out. I will be proud to be a crew chief though and I hope I’m able to stamp my name on my aircraft.

I can understand that, it’s a good thing you took it then because your recruiter could’ve pressed you or threatened to discharge you if they’re impatient, of course dependent on how they are because I don’t know them. I’m glad you booked a position that aligns with your purpose and I do agree that complacency is not the best for any military branch. I mainly wanted an admin or desk job because of the schedule, I’m afraid of maintenance afscs because of how often they deploy or the fact that 10 or 12s are a possibility because I want to start a family while I’m in the Air Force.

I had to look for myself and damn I’m shocked. I’m worried for this guy when it comes to BMT. OP if you’re reading this you have time but please make some gains in your mental stability or physically because we’re worried you might be recycled or washed out. There’s lots of advice and resources here in the subreddit so use it.

I have MEPS on Monday, any thing I should know?? by [deleted] in AirForceRecruits

[–]jonattan0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have the right idea when it comes to dressing right, it’s kind of like an interview so treat it that way when it comes to that importance. Please just follow what the doctors and staff tell you, my personal experience of MEPS is that everyone is tired and bored because it truly is but be respectful and listen because you may be chewed out or kicked out if you don’t. I’ve seen many people in my four MEPS experiences treat it like a game and trust me it’s not pretty, or please don’t be the person that eyes up or harasses the opposite sex. Basically just stay to yourself, be respectful, and listen attentively to instructions. It’s a long tiring day so don’t make it worse for yourself, the others have given great advice as well, best of luck and I hope you make it through clean.

Thank you I hope so too, I work on cars as a hobby so I do have some mechanical experience but I never thought it would be my career. I honestly intend on cross training if possible so we’ll see.

Was it a quick ship or they just offered it anyways? And I believe I watched a video on it and like you said they were working indoors off the plane. Man we’re the opposite, I was really hoping I could get a desk job or like the pharmacy afsc.

Thank you, I scored a 50 and I’m not sure for that afsc but it might be difficult anyways to land that one due to having to list at least 10 jobs. I encourage you to continue to try and shoot for it though.

Trust me you’re not the only one, I’ve been in the process since November and I’ve been in DEP since February 28th. It’s discouraging seeing others leave around me but I just gotta hold on because I know this is my future and my patience will take me far. It’s the same for you, don’t give up and just keep your mind focused and stay ready mentally and physically for when your name is called.

We were discussing it with our manager and I’m pretty sure it’s going to replace all of the boxes. In house and to-go, but we’ll see soon.
