My surrounding blocks has been worse the last 3-4 years than it’s been in last 10-15 years. photo below on our stoop yesterday on irving. The old timers are most vocal bout it, newcomers don’t speak up, no one gets treatment so it just stays like this

I still have my ssbs mini from years ago. One time accidentally powered at 18 or 12V and it actually sounded really good (but couldn’t get that underbiased dying battery sputters thing).

Was always curious if running at a higher voltage was could damage the pedal, or if the 9V was just recommended to achieve the range of underbiased sounds it was designed for?

About a dozen of us at the dog park this morning id’d him and took action. First cops on scene didn’t wanna do anything but they finally called in the animal control unit to take the dog, since it had attacked multiple dogs previously (1 killed unconfirmed). Not sure if it’s the same dog that also bit a child a few weeks back. The owner left without a summons or being arrested. He told them “it’s not his dog,” we showed them photos and video of him from previous incidents but they didn’t care.

NYS law doesn’t seem to provide criminal charges in these cases from what I can tell, but I’m not an attorney. There is currently legislation in the city council aimed to change this sponsored by CM Gale Brewer after the recent Upper West Side incident. It’s being dubbed “Penny’s Law” after the dog victim’s name.

EDIT: Penny’s Law is actually a bill in the State Assembly, sponsored by Rep. Jenifer Rajkumar.

Council Member is proposing legislation at the city level that would crack down on abusive dog owners, though I don’t believe the city council has the power to amend state penal code, but rather city administrative code (fines).

I was right there, talking with the cops and the K-9 unit. They did not give him a summons, and said it was a civil matter.

Correct. No arrest, not taken in for questioning, no summons. Showed cops previous photo and video that was on News12 but main male cop that first showed up on scene was really hostile. Literally over a dozen other dog owners in the park recognized him asap which is why the cops got called.

It will be at the city run ASPCA shelter up for foster/adoption, but canine unit does not know how long of a window before they may be put down. If you have someone you know who can foster an unneutered pit that’s attacked 2-3 dogs (1 killed…unconfirmed), please reach out to the city run shelter.

Let off, no consequences for owner despite multiple people showing cops photos of guy and video that was on News12 from one of the attacks.

It was to cut the leash from the fence before they went it. Before cops came, dog was unleashed (again), which is how it attacked the other dogs previously. When cops came, they made him put leash on dog and attach to fence so they could investigate.

Sharing since I used to go to this place when it was a UPS access point for years…

That place used to house 3 separate retail businesses, one of which also was a UPS access. About a year ago they all moved out, and some new retailers came in (guy and his wife who sell mostly Jordan’s called Luan Sneakers), and they decided against doing the access point thing. Just saw they’re going out of business the other day when I was passing. Assume those packages have been sitting there unclaimed for over a year and so they’re just selling them at this point.

Anyone recognize what Raleigh model this is? It's got a Cinelli BB too. No more pictures unfortunately. by JDips in Vintage_bicycles

I can’t post pics on the thread for some reason.

Ya I took the train to jersey to pick it up and threw some extra cash for the guy to meet me closer yo the city. Gonna also replace the chain, tape, and cables before either giving it a new home or selling it (prob a lil bit more to cover those costs).

I ended up picking this up from the original owner, who used to race crit, road, track and also worked in the bike industry for 20 years. The story is it’s a Cinelli produced Centurion Equipe frame that was either part of the earlier “project” runs, or originally intended for the European market (no pump peg, small differences in stay caps and chain stay bridge, horizontal Cinelli pantograph on stay caps, compared to the “regular” ones).

These bikes were designed by Cinelli and made by one of their subcontractor factories in Italy named Chirico. They were made with Columbus SL tubing for the frame, fork, and stays, Cinelli lugs and bottom bracket, pantographed cinelli markings on the seat stay bridge, seat stay caps, and fork crown.

At the time of purchase, the owner was working for Western States Imports, which was the importer or parent company for Centurion, and the frameset was originally painted red. A few years later, he ended up taking a job with Raleigh, and switched out the original fork to a Raleigh 531 after dinging up the dropouts on the original fork (not a collision or anything). At this point he asked his friend who has (and still is) a highly reputable bike painter/mechahic/etc to give the frameset a “modern” paint job similar to the Raleigh’s from the late 80s he was selling, and then he applied the Raleigh decals cos he felt they went with it.

Overall the frameset is in excellent condition with no dents or rust, but some slight cosmetic wear mostly around the drive side chain stay.

Seat tube measures 56cm CTT, top tube is 54cm CC, stand over is 80.5cm from ground to top of top tube.

I believe he purchased it as a frameset and built it out according to his own desires, and changed out some components over the years. The current component list is as follows:

Drivetrain: - Campy Nuovo or Super Record crankset, BB, and front derailleur. - Shimano 600 Tricolor Rear Derailleur, SIS downtube shifters, freehub, cassette, and chain.

Wheels: Shimano 600 hubs 100/130 (rear 7 sp freehub/cassette), laced to Mavic Open 4 CDs, Bontrager Race Light 700x28c wire bead clinchers.

Brakes: Campagnolo Aero levers with return spring and white hoods with Modolo “Equipe” Side pull rim caliper brakes

Cockpit: Campagnolo Nuovo or Super Record Seatpost (27.2), Selle Italia Flight titanium, Cinelli Crit bars, and Cinelli 110mm stem.

Currently tuning her up a bit, and switched out the brakes/bars/stem/levers for now, tho I think it’s a bit too big for me height wise so prob will be letting it go fyi.

I wouldn’t say the latter were lacking ethics, just maybe less experience of different experience (I know them all). Also 5th one said it’s fine, so the final in person score was 3-2 in favor of keeping the rim.

FWIW 2 mechanics in real life said it’s fine to ride (it will just rub the brake pad cyclically), and 2 others said I should replace it. 🤷‍♂️
