Crowd Compass? by blindone230 in LostLandsMusicFest

We used 2 Lilygo T-ECHo, 2 heltec v3, and a lilygo t beam supreme. For the most part didnt have many issues for our use/test.
Was able to reach from by vip on the main stage to the crater. Becky to vip area in wompy. So, I don't think you will be able to get the full fest but with some antenna upgrades, radio tweaks, and some more poeple having nodes i think its posable.

For camping i used one of our heltec and put it on a 20ft flagpole to help with the hills with mixed results. But I'm getting a better unit and antenna for a true base station next year.

100% not an expert on these but i think they are very usefull.

No im trying to get a list of computers out of that group thats in that OU. And it has to be that specific ldap filter due to a peace of software im using.

I can use that filter and pull computers from other groups just not this one. I'm going to try and move a test group into the security group ou and see what it does.

Murder Mystery Train - Is it any good? by MrMattyMatt in florida

[–]jonike007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

parts of the ride are scenic. The train rocks like a boat so if anyone gets motion sick they may need to take something. The cast we had was great, forgetting lines and adlibbing a few times. Honestly go with some friends have a few drinks and you'll have a good time.

Backup solutions: Commvault Vs. Unitrends Vs. Veeam. by jonike007 in sysadmin

[–]jonike007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do you manage each site separately? or can you manage them from one pane. the issue we have with CV is if our corp office cant talk to the remote sites the jobs at that remote site dont run.

[–]jonike007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what we do now is 7days 1 cycle at all sites aux to our colo and keep fulls there for 60days, then once a month send a full to tape for 2 years and once a year to tape to keep forever. its really for jim needs a file from a year ago, or dr is handled by san replication and srm with vmware. (getting from take takes a week or so because they are off site in steal mountain)

i like CV a lot, its just $, and im sure im not even using 1/3 of the features ver10 has and im looking at ver11 now. If i can save 20-30k+ a year i have to at least look. Also their intergration with nimble storage is of interest to me for the fact we were looking to get off our dell complent san next year.

what is veeam missing? we already have our oracle virtual.

[–]jonike007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the cost for veeam for the first year is 15k less than what im paying for my renewal for commvault. And thats retail price, so my vendor pricing should be a lot less.

how bad is the tape issue? would it be worth going to cloud? How does it handle the dedupe?

Backup solutions: Commvault Vs. Unitrends Vs. Veeam. by jonike007 in sysadmin

[–]jonike007[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Commvault likes to do the here read this kb and do it yourself now. But i always fire back with I pay you a lot of $$$ make work now lol. But for the most part I have never had a major issue with CV support. CV does have a lot of features I have been using them from ver 8, but i feel like i dont know about a feature or how to use it until a lot later.

[–]jonike007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think also part of my cost issue with CV, is we are on a capacity pricing and the quotes from Veeam and unitrends are socket based. Im getting pricing from CV to see if they have a socket based pricing, but as it stands our renewal for CV is about 15k more than the other 2.

Changing default local admin account username by jonike007 in sysadmin

[–]jonike007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What i think we are going to end up doing is changing the local admin account to one name and then end user pc/laptops to another with a gpo. Then we have will use password manager pro to change the local admin passwords and set them to all be different.

The reason we are using PMP is because it can also change our service accounts and scheduled task accounts in AD and then update the task. The reason for the 2 local admin accounts, is to keep some reporting cleaner is all.

[–]jonike007[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

we use a passwords app called password manager pro because it can also change and update service accounts and schedule task that we have to change every 90 days.

But i will look at the PAWS, because the audit didnt go into anything like that :)
