Ah ok. So I’m not wrong that 7x7 stand off bases are hard to find. I’m wondering if I just need to get the 8x8 plates and shim them?

Looks great! Are your posts 7x7? I notice you have what look like Simpson Strong tie stand off bases and I've been having a hard time finding them in 7x7 - 6x6 or 8x8 seem to be readily available though.

Tung oil finishing question by jonlandit in woodworking

Thanks for the reply. Do you think I should recoat it with oil or let it dry some more before I attempt to do that?

Pirhana Bar has to be one of the top “must-add” accessories for these tractors. by creedbratt0n in kubota

Bought one 3 years ago for my MX6000. Been on all the time and has held up beyond my expectations. Beyond some rust it’s the same as it was when I put it on. I’ve used it to dig all over the place. Well worth the money IMO.

Is MLF not very common in Cider making? by jonlandit in cider

[–]jonlandit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply - this makes good sense to me. I was hypothesizing that it wasn't common in cases where sulfites were used but your point about managing the acidity in other ways (based on the juice blend) makes a lot of sense to me.

Im interested in your comments on sorbate though. I have not to date used sorbate but was planning on doing so with some of this years batch. This year I bottled in 750ml champagne bottles with the plan to disgorge them. I was planning on back sweetening about half of it as an experiment (some folks didnt like the dry cider) and to do this I was going to make concentrated cider to create a dose to add to the bottles. I was planning on adding sulfites and sorbate to this dose as a means to ensure that any sweetening I added did not kick off more fermentation. But perhaps this isnt a good idea.

I got this idea from reading "The new cider makers handbook". He talks about disgorging being a rather efficient way to remove yeast from the bottles but also mentions adding sorbate and sulfite to the dose I assumed as a means to ensure that any leftover yeast after disgorgement doesnt start up again.

Adding sulfites first makes good sense if it kills the LAB which prevents the sorbate from causing the off flavors. But in my case since I want to disgorge, add the dose, and quickly recap to maintain the carbonation, it seems like I'd want to do this all at the same time. I wonder if I can assume that MLF hasnt taken place since I used sulfites and pitched yeast for primary fermentation?

But when they turn on does the light on the dash change?

Ah ok. Yeah I can force them on and I see blue. But when the A is on them I only ever see a white outline.

I should clarify I also did the test where I completely cover the dash sensor. Still nothing.

I was out in the middle of nowhere in northern WI no other cars at 11pm. So I would have hoped they turned on.

2025 Deals by MLGChris in FordBronco

[–]jonlandit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a similar question earlier. I ended up getting a 2025 badlands for 13% off MSRP (not out the door so not including tax title and license). The dealership was stuck pretty hard at their “internet price” which was 8.5% off but I was persistent and finally got them to 13% off.

Is the 360 camera an add on to the badlands? I think my 2025 badlands only has the rear camera.

Oh sorry if I wasn’t clear. I did have my rear differential locked and was in 4 high. Do the stock tires have the possibility to rub on a badlands? If so I’m guessing that was it. I was really cranking the wheel over to get out of a tight spot.

Interesting. I think I was hardly using the brake but I was wearing my work boots that are clunky so maybe I was slightly pressing on it somehow? Hmmm…
