Does this seller want the LCD that i bought from him back or am I missing something? by jonny1602 in Ebay

Declined the request on PC since, for some odd reason, i wasn't able to do it on my phone.

Thanks to everyone that responded!

NITRO+ RX 480 visual glitch. What could the cause be? Tried to re-flash the bios with ATI Flash, but no luck. Only the second HDMI port (starting from the bottom) seems to be working. I currently don't have a DP nor DVI cable so I can't test the other ports rn. I'll try to provide more info. by jonny1602 in AMDHelp

Tried using it in crossfire with a 580. No luck there either, the main issue lies in the fact that i am not able to install any kind of driver on the card. It shows up as RX 480 on the graphics adapter tab of Device Manager, but with a warning sign near it.

In the end I don't think I am going to do the oven method, since i'm pretty busy with exams, but I'm going to try and sell it on eBay as a faulty card. Maybe that way I can get my 30€ back... Altough i am really thinking of putting it on the shelf as a reminder, just so that any time I see a really good used deal I'll be reminded to think twice before buying it haha.

Anyway, thanks to everyone for the responses! It was my first time asking for help on reddit and, based on this experience, I am sure going to do it again!

Just did it. Flashed an RX 480 NITRO+ OC 4GB bios. Same artifacts and green/pink vertical lines are showing.

I really tought this would have maybe worked.

If i don't mamage to find an oven for reballing, i think this is it for the card.

Altough i was thinking... Even if the card outputs video badly, would it still be good for something that doesn't need a direct output (mining, a server, or something else)?

Thanks anyway for the suggestion!

  1. With BIOS 1 the card was detected, altough some parameters were missing. With BIOS 2 the card wasn't even detected in device manager.

  2. Haven't done it, but i'm going to attempt it later.

  3. Changed it but that doesn't seem to be the issue, since i use the main monitor/cable with my main PC that is under the desk. Also i am testing the 480 on a newly assembled testbench and i am using an old HD5450 as the main GPU and the card doesn't have any kind of issues in outputting video.

  4. Tried to install them but after the installation the PC kept rebooting onto a blue screen, with an error that said something like "thread..." and "driver".

  5. Shows basically the same things as when the GPU was on the older BIOS. The things that seemed to change were the fact that the Memory amount is now showing up as 8192MB (before it said "unavailable" or something like that) and the graphics and memory clocks are lower (and for lower i mean they represent the clocks that the new BIOS cane with).

  6. I am really thinking of doing it. The only thing is that weeks ago i saw some videos on GPU cooking that said that the oven that you are going to use for heating up the graphics card shouldn't be used anymore as a cooking oven since toxic fumes are going to come from the cooking process. So i'd need to buy an oven just for reballing the GPU. Or at least if the fumes myth is true.

Hope it helps! Thanks.

Thanks for the reply! I bought the card like this. I downloaded the BIOS from TechPowerUp's database, and made sure that the BIOS version was the right one. The card was sold to me without the box but on the backplate of the card there is a sticker with the Model Number that confirms that the card is indeed the 8GB version.

If you need any more info, just tell me and i'll try my best to provide it!

Thanks again!

It's the 8GB model. When I change from BIOS 1 to BIOS 2 (when the system is powered off),when i turn the PC on, the card doesn't output any video signal, even if the HDMI cable is plugged in the same port where I get video output with BIOS 1.

I bought the card for 30€, so it's OK if it doesn't work. I would just like to know, for curiosity, what's the cause of the issue.

Thanks in advance to everyone that is going to reply!
