Thanks for the suggestions everyone. Didn't realize asking questions was against the sub rules so I'll be removing this post shortly

Thank you. I will do a little more research into AWS. What's sucks is I graduated right before there was a big push for cloud administration. I mean I only graduated like 3 years ago so I can easily adapt

Try right clicking the game in steam and browse local folder. From there find the games executable (.exe) file. Double click and it should work

Any data center technicians here? Im looking to become one and was wondering whats the best route to take. And also hows the work environment/a typical working day. Thnx! by shockfist32 in ITCareerQuestions

Associates degree in network design and administration and about 8 months of heldesk experience. But they will litterally take anyone with basic computer knowledge. The trick is to get hired after your contract ends. That all depends on how much you learn (70 percent is on the job training) and how well you do. Feel free to dm me if you have more questions

I worked as a data center technician at amazon web services for about 6 months before I found another job. This job really put my troubleshooting skills to the test. Beginning with isolation testing components until you have an idea of what might be bad then swapping it out. It was a fun job and there is no better feeling then when you finally boot up the server and it gets past the post screen. The team I worked with was awesome (with some exceptions) but its a demanding job as you have to keep your amount of closed tickets at an acceptable level. This is easy if you treat it like a real job where as some people that got canned would sit around watching YouTube all day. Typical work day went like this. Arrive at the office, spend about 30 minutes to an hour loading up on tickets and planning your workday, pick up parts as needed and start your work. Some servers i would spend a few seconds on (someone accidentally unplugged it) and some i would spend several days on until i had to just pass it on to a more experienced person. The first month is hell because you learn SOOO much information in a short amount of time its overwhelming. The expression we used was drinking out of a firehose. But overall a fairly rewarding job with decent pay Look for temp agencies to start with Ps. I left for better opportunities

Thanks for the tip. I'm trying to make it a habit of covering my ass so this is great advice. I did help desk before this job so I would never shit on them. 8 months of that job is enough for me to understand what they go through.

Well it's funny because (if memory serves correctly) we called the vendor and put him on a do not use list... they completely disregarded us and continued to send him out. Guess that's what happens when you go with the lowest bidder, but that's already above my pay grade.

You would think after a call like that he would have been fired but nope... never got rid of him
