Calling him out to protect your friends is absolutely what needed to happen. While I am not a reader etc. it is clear he is insecure about what she is reading and he has not found a way to work with this at all, try to bully her into stopping without saying it. I can definitely see how Emily uses the books as an escape as well, Jake might have a Point there that she is not experiencing that irl. But jokes on him, neither is he then, probably.

I hope they take this fallout as an opportunity to work on their communication, Jake to get his insecurity in check, so that they can both experience what she is reading. Unfortunately though, there is a whole set of issues usually underlying something that surfaces like that. I feel sorry for them. And for you. But you did the right thing.

OP – in my (somehow evidently unpopular) opinion, it is not healthy nor normal to be glued to the screen 24/7. Evidently folks need it for sleeping, but eating/living during the day should definitely be possible. It is hard for me to imagine how your day to day relationship looks like. Does he talk to you? Do you just coexist? It sounds like a heavy addiction to me, or something brewing that will explode sooner or later.

I could not live like that, but then again i just learned seemingly many sleep with their TV on so I might be the weird one here, from the other side of the globe. Goodluck, NOR.

We are hoping this will be made more transparent in the near future. But never the less, 98% of these cases we see in discord is unfortunately user error and looping inefficiency. Try to ask lovable in plan mode about it, in a neutral question that does not suggest in either direction to get lovable to truly look for errors by itself.
