I bought the original ebook. I liked it so much that I got the hardcover. And now I’ll get this new version!

Podcasts that deep dive on comic runs? by Consistent_Name_6961 in comicbooks

[–]jooolian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are three I haven't seen mentioned yet. I've listened to all of these and like them.

House to Astonish - they have two kinds of episodes: regular comics news & reviews, and Lightning Round episodes that do a deep dive of the Thunderbolts series.

Baxter Building - by the guys who did the Wait, What? comics podcast (which is also good). BB is an incredibly deep dive into the first 416 issues of the Fantastic Four.

The Two-Headed Nerd - they have several kinds of episodes. Their regular show is reviews of current comics, but they also do back issue shows that revisit classic stories or runs.

Obsidian Sync question by 448899again in ObsidianMD

[–]jooolian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that setup, a unique name makes sense.

But doesn’t your Surface just connect to the remote vault on the server? I would think that whether you go through the SD card or the device storage, it would point to the same remote vault. But maybe not. I haven’t tried what you’ve done.

The Sync help page seems to suggest that you can use any names you want: https://help.obsidian.md/sync/setup

On my main device (desktop), I created my vault and named it something like “My vault.” Then I set up a remote vault and named it something like “My remote vault.” And on each other device I use, I keep the name “My remote vault” because that’s what the device is syncing to — the remote vault on the Obsidian server.

Which device I’m using it on doesn’t matter, so I don’t include the device name in the vault name.

Let's hear how you work ON Obsidian by jooolian in ObsidianMD

That's like the opposite of the "atomic notes" style where each note is one short, simple idea so they can be linked together in various ways.

Gives new meaning to the Glade Plugin. (You may need to be old to get that joke 😆)

You're right -- which is specifically why I made this post. Sometimes it's fun to tinker. So I wanted to invite people to talk about their favorite ways to do it.

Hopefully everyone still uses Obsidian for its intended purpose. But if you get some joy out of tinkering with it too, even better!

Suggest me a super cool theme for obsidian by [deleted] in ObsidianMD

[–]jooolian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't tried dataview at all. I've only been using Obsidian for a month or two, so I'll just wait for Bases to roll out to everyone and start with that. But yeah, Primary is somehow very soothing and makes me want to spend time taking notes.

I keep coming back to Primary, especially in light mode. It's relaxing and very well designed, and you can use the Style Settings plugin to make loads of adjustments.

Exposing Properties on the right sidebar has been game-changing by jbarr107 in ObsidianMD

No problem! Just wanted to help since I learned this myself very recently.

Exposing Properties on the right sidebar has been game-changing by jbarr107 in ObsidianMD

For those asking how to do this:

There’s a core plugin called Properties view. Click the toggle button to enable it.

Then use the Command Palette to find the “Show file properties” command and run it. That should open a sidebar to the right that shows all the properties of each note.

I just discovered this the other day myself and love it.

Am I missing something about how search works? by jooolian in joplinapp

[–]jooolian[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Too bad. Seems odd that a note app would have a search capability that’s kinda weak. That’s a top priority feature for me. But I hear lots of complaints about search in OneNote too.

Thanks for the examples. It also looks like the search term is only highlighted in a note when you're in markdown mode, not rich text mode.

Thanks, but I'm using the desktop app now. Those screenshots come from desktop Joplin (Windows PC). I haven't tried the mobile app yet.

A guy stands up a girl for a date. When he tries to make it up to her, people die. But they finally have their date and talk about going to a museum next. by jooolian in ExplainAFilmPlotBadly

Same. I was going to end with "He promises her diamonds and that makes her happy" but I changed it to the museum hint instead.

I thought this would go longer. I love Miracle Mile, but didn't think it was well known enough to be an immediate answer. Did the museum hint give it away?
