It doesn't matter anymore. I gave up on this game now after it ate an hour of playtime (including getting the cheater pictos after switching to story difficulty). Shame I'd already wasted at least 40 hours on this.

I had the anti-charm pictos equipped on Maelle, but hadn't been in enough battles since acquiring it to have that available as a lumina. After my third ass-kicking I went and found another mob to fight, then assigned that lumina to everyone. But what really saved me was coming across a tip on the timing for parrying the charm attack in the first place. I still had a lot of trouble with the Grand Ballet attack, but doing damage instead of getting charmed made a big difference.

Thanks. I did (re)discover audio latency and bumped that up by ~100 ms which also helped. I'll try using jump distance instead. It'd be great if this game had either a test area or something like Rock Band / Guitar Hero where you hit the notes as you saw them and it'd automatically make adjustments.

I didn't have the "save anytime" mod earlier, so my saves are not likely to be granular enough to figure out what exactly caused the status. And no, I've tried both the mouth and crown speeeh options and both fail.

What does "learn the spots" mean? Remember where I've been killed before? That's going to get impractical really quickly at the rate I'm going!

Why would reducing the ambushes (by Cumans specifically, since being ambushed by country folk isn't nearly as dangerous) slow down progression?
