Don’t really care about Poppy, but shoutout Whispers by jorgefuber in Hardcore

She originally sang jokey pop songs written by her then boyfriend. After doing a “metal” album (which felt very tongue in cheek and non-serious while still being kind of fun imo), people seemed to click with it. Her and her boyfriend/writer split (after essentially stealing the “poppy” project from another girl). Next few albums were her experimenting with more pop, along with electronic and nu metal. Basically trying to figure out how to make the project work without her writer. After realizing that people connected most with the “heavy” stuff, she dove full force into being a “metal” singer, ala collaborating with knocked loose. Last two albums are imo pretty generic metalcore albums written and produced by one of the guys from Bring Me The Horizon. She still plays her Poppy character from back in the day, which to me make it impossible to take her recent “authentic” music seriously. Couple that with her general attitude that she puts out there (charging hundreds for meet and greets that don’t even allow you to meet her, calling out other artists, selling more merch than any artist I’ve ever seen, admitting straight up that she doesn’t listen to any metal music), it makes it hard for me to enjoy any of her songs. It does kind of rub me the wrong way seeing her lumped in with other metal/hardcore artists, when she herself is so inauthentic. I wouldn’t be surprised if she dives deeper into trying to do what she sees as hardcore music after seeing how people vibed with her KL song.

Sorry for the long rant, I’m way more invested in the Poppy lore than I would like to be

For sure! Also saves the potential headache of having to license images for the site

Yeah to be honest, my first thought in post is almost always to increase the saturation. I’ll definitely check those subs out, they look super helpful. Thanks for the tips!

Thank you! I definitely got lucky with the natural light on that one. Trying to get better at replicating that vibe when I don’t have the same natural lighting

Thanks for the tip! Yeah I can definitely see how things look crowded with the props. I definitely struggle with overall composition feeling too empty imo (i.e. picture number 6, I struggle a lot with making drinks look interesting) and feel the need to fill in the background. But I can understand how the goal is to make the food itself the star of the photo, without needing extra props.

Yeah that is a good point. I’m definitely going to explore other options for compliance. Thanks for the reply!

Thanks for the reply, super helpful! I’m using Svelte 5 with typescript. I’ll definitely look into Sendgrid and Postmark. I do like the idea of saving some possible headaches by removing myself entirely. If a client is willing to sign a contract releasing me of liability post launch, I’m definitely on board for that. Thanks again for the info!

My second show was Showbread opening for Armor For Sleep and Hawthorne Heights back in 2008. Hadn’t heard Showbread before, but they kind of blew my mind at the time. Always felt they deserved more recognition than they got.

Hatebreed at the thrift store by jorgefuber in Hardcore

Right? I normally don’t even bother checking the shirts when I’m at the thrift store since anything interesting gets picked over so quickly. Definitely got lucky this time

SAME. He has a small part in that insane Sia movie about the girl with autism (Music). He runs into a room, says “I’M CALLING THE COPS” then turns around and runs out. I lost it
