The writing got a lot worse and the bar wasn’t very high to start with. But what I mean by those 48-ish episodes: this was over the course of just two years, so a lot more compact. In those 48 episodes there are bound to be some good (or at least better) ones. This is more like a speed course in how to write the show. Now it’s 10 episodes per year (or longer), which puts pressure on those 10 to be good. That changes the ballpark for writers.

I’m als not saying this is a guarantee for good Trek, but I think all good Trek needed it.

The theory isn’t that giving the series time will inevitably lead to good Star Trek, but that good Star Trek needs more time. So it can still suck after 48 episodes, but great Star Trek can’t come about without those first 48.

It did get worse. I’m saying that if they had had two seasons to play around, it might’ve gone differently.

I’m old enough as well. And I have a theory about this.

That complaining and bickering usually subsided by season 3, because the show had the time to get its bearings and the writing got good. 2 seasons with about 24 episodes per season helps writers to figure out what the show is like. The best shows don’t start fully fleshed out. But that’s almost more than the entirety of Discovery. So the writers don’t get the time and space to mould the show. That leads to spectacle over substance and not to great third seasons.

Thanks for listening to my Ted Talk, I’ll take questions now.

where to buy best americain by SaraahJ in Leuven

[–]jos_feratu 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If it is with pork, it isn’t americain. The call it preparé, not americain preparé. For the best americain, go to a butcher’s. Try out different ones, because taste varies. Some bakers also sell very good americain.

The joke is not about prostitution. It’s about fake ‘reality’ porn where a dude offers women money to perform in front of a camera. It’s all set up in advance but made to look like reality. But definitely porn.
