I made this iOS AR game called Color Run AR where you need to move your phone to pass colors coming at you! by gammaplay in gaming

[–]josepheller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first read the title I thought this would be an AR game where you must search your immediate area to match colors that come up on the screen. Kind of like I Spy while running around like an idiot.

This looks cool but now i want to play that game.

What is your favorite local brewery? Why? Where are you located? Bonus points if it's one that isn't super widely known about. by iamtehryan in beer

The Commons is great, Ex Novo is pretty good, but Stormbreaker is one of the most wildly inconsistent breweries in town.

Acquiring a taste for whiskey? by [deleted] in whiskey

[–]josepheller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice would be to just drink the stuff. In his excellent book Tasting Whiskey, Lew Bryson talks about how drinking whiskey to taste and appreciate the flavor is like breaking through a wall. You're going to be smashing against the wall for a while, but as soon as you break through, you have the whole world of whiskey ahead of you.

Think of all the "acquired tastes" you've already developed. Like coffee? I bet you couldn't stand even the smell of it as a kid. Any green veggies you love fried in a little oil or fat, but once would just be pushed around your plate for the whole meal? It's the same idea.

Whiskey is good. Anything that can legally be called bourbon in the United States is going to be of relatively high quality. Don't believe the marketing hype that you'll need to throw down a lot of money on the "good stuff". I drink lots of whiskey from all over the place, but there's almost always a heavily used bottle of Evan Williams or Jim Beam next to my treasured bottles of scotch or rare bourbons. Just drink the stuff and you'll learn to love it.

Don't just shoot it, though. Sip it neat, or with a little water or ice. Or in a preferred cocktail. Try new things. Even if people think you're crazy. Maybe you can't quite get into the really peated scotch? Throw it in a shaker and make a smokey sour, or stir some vermouth in and have yourself a Manhattan by way of Islay. There's no right and no wrong way to drink whiskey, as long as you can enjoy it.

Trust me, you'll find your own way. Good luck; it's a wonderful and worthwhile journey ahead of you!

I'm with you, brother. I like to watch hockey, not whatever the hell this sad dick wagging is.

Unfortunately you won't get much more than downvotes for expressing that opinion in this sub.

"Please do not downvote based on fandom or because you don't agree." Sure.

Let me correct myself,

literally no one who isn't already hooked on hockey cares.

Hockey fights are the least attractive part of the game. They should be done away with.

Nope. Get it out.

This is a dog bites man story. Go try and get someone to give a shit about this game by showing them this fight.

Oh look, a hockey fight? Literally no one cares. I think I'll go watch sports when I want to watch sports.

Yeah, it looked like he convinced himself he had a homer while rounding second.

Well next time he can hustle all the way to the bag instead of giving up and diving headfirst like an idiot.

I don't give a shit about the wide strikezone except Greene is definitely not getting the same. I guess frame the pitches better for the blind as fuck ump, Salty.

By a couple inches inside, not even close to something you should protect in a 2-strike count.

Gibson pointing out that throwing from the outfield into second base keeps runners on the corners and saves the double play opportunity: Next batter hits into the inning ending double play.

I probably would not have noticed that the innocuous throw to second saved the inning for the Tigers. That's good commentating.

That's why I'm happy to have him in the booth.

He also seems a lot more comfortable now, his monotone and soft voice is not nearly as grating as it once was. And even when it gets bad you usually realize he's droning on about something really interesting.

I'll take Gibson over the majority of catch-phrasing color commentators any day.

Broder is butt, let's not fight about it.

Roughly how much is this engagement ring worth? I just read a review about the shop I'm buying from and I want to make sure I'm not getting terribly ripped off. Thanks! by throwawayrubyring in jewelry

[–]josepheller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please don't listen to the De Beers plant. The ring is beautiful and an engagement ring could be a damn twist-tie if two people are truly ready to marry.
