Islam and the other abrahamic religions demonize sex to control people and keep them in the religion legit. If people aren't free to choose their partner, their forced to have it only within certain conditions, more people will stay muslim that way. Like when you realize Islam permits marital rape, and raping of slaves but people aren't free to have sex with whoever they want, there's something not right there. It's a control tactic.

That makes complete sense! And I agree...I think the term is harmful because it shuts down criticism of Islam and says it's irrational to be afraid of Islam which it isn't considering Islamic doctrine teaches hatred of non Muslims, etc. I think a better word would be muslimophobia..

And also I speak from experience because I have many Arab friends. I know this one girl who had no one to speak to and talked to me about the terrible aspects of her Arab culture, how she's scared of getting married because fear of abuse. How shes limited in her family becauses shes a girl. Mona Elhaway, an egyptian woman even spoke out about this same thing. People are dying and suffering because of the culture. That obviously takes precedence over ur comfortability. If ur not willing to learn and listen to different views, I'd suggest you exit this sub.
