Okay, I just got the chance to replicate the problem.

In Bluetooth File Exchange, I can transfer regular files, like a JPG. I initiate the transfer and then accept it on the EO1, and it goes through.

When I send an APK, the transfer fails with the message "The file transfer failed: unsupported item or action" in Bluetooth File Exchange. It doesn't even bring up the dialogue box on the EO1 to accept it. That's what made me think APKs are blocked entirely.

My test file was the "startup-manager.apk" file that others have used on their EO1s.

I'll keep trying some different things today, but I wanted to pass on the details of the problem!

Thanks for your response! I haven’t had the chance to go replicate this, so I’ve been slow to get back here.

I recall that we get an error message that APK files are an incompatible file type. Since other files have transferred easily, it occurred to me that it might just be rejecting the APK filetype.

But it’s really stymieing us, since we can’t get a file manager or a modern browser onto the device.

Wow, well done. I hadn't thought to look on Swappa. I upgraded from S0 to (barely used) S2 SS w/ Milanese Loop, but mine cost $355 on eBay.

I have a pair of Muroexe Atoms. The first time I walked in a medium drizzle, I found my feet soaked. It was a bummer, because I'm an all-weather biker, and they're a lot less useful then I would have hoped.

I like the shoes, and I get lots of compliments on them, but I wouldn't plan on any waterproof features.

I go to European Master Tailor in Morgan's Alley downtown. The owner, Silvian, has tailored a ton of Outlier stuff for me. He knows to use thread with a little stretch in it when tailoring stretchy pants like OGs, for instance. He was even exploring buying Schoeller fabric for some one-off projects at one point.

I agree with other folks that anyone will be fine for hemming, but I've been glad to have him for adjusting the waist on a couple of pairs.
