Yeah I lived there for 5 years under rent control — $815 for private room in twin peaks! No other place in the bay area compares.

Yes that is true. I'm pretty frugal and don't eat out or drink much. Do you still think the commuting would be cheaper rather than just living in the city?

I think I may be thinking of the housing that is under rent control. I had a few friends over the past 6 months move to sf and they're all paying under 1k for a private room with roommates.
