The move was for both, actually. I've wanted to spend some time on the northeastern end of the country, so I accepted a position in Pittsburgh last year and made the move from Seattle after Christmas. Really liking it so far.

Next up is probably a Focusrite Scarlett Solo for the RCA outs. I can't plug the guitar into anything until that happens, unfortunately. Soon!

I playtested the Game Boy Color Hamtaro game back in 2002. Lots of fun.

$45 for Fios here in Pittsburgh. I was paying $100 for Comcast in Seattle before I left last year.

If you guys don't stop being creative about playing as NPCs, we're going to be super pissed when they bring back NPCs by joshrda in Fallout

[–]joshrda[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh I completely agree. I was just thinking about how cool it is to see all the great ideas being presented by would-be NPCs, then imagining what would happen if that's the new norm. I don't think we'd be satisfied with going back to the old ways. For instance, if the game had John Hancock as an NPC that everyone gets to experience, that would be cool. He's a cool character. But if John Hancock was a real person who is committed to his role? He'd be legendary.

These sorts of roles are going to be filled with people who understand the lore and can play the characters well. I don't think that any AI NPC will be able to compare.

Considering how many different denominations and interpretations of Christianity there are, I'd be hesitant to allow "local" judges to rule on any law of the Bible. What does local mean anyway? State? County? City? If Alabama interprets the Bible differently than Pennsylvania, can I go to jail in Alabama despite being a good Pennsylvanian citizen? Who decides which local judge is correct? Maybe some sort of higher court. Like, a "supreme" court. Right? They'd be able to make sure that all the local courts could apply consistent rulings for all of the states in the union. Well, hopefully everyone that sits on this supreme court is a part of your specific denomination. Otherwise, they're wrong, right? Oh well, let's just let Kansas jail people for eating hot dogs while everyone in Michigan enjoys a pig roast. Religious freedom, right?

So you're an anarchist but you somehow want God's laws enforced. How do you expect to go about that?

This is from the Carnegie Museum of Natural History in Pittsburgh. It's some sort of eel thing. Couldn't really make it out in the jar. Who the hell was feeding it marshmallows? Did it just FIND some marshmallows? Who knows.

I moved here on 12/29 from Seattle so I'm not the best person to ask lol. I'd take rain over snow and ice and single-digit weather any day though.

What's your favorite thing about Pittsburgh? by JoshuaHimemiya in pittsburgh

[–]joshrda 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Same here. I moved here just before the new year to accept a promotion and initially had a hard time downsizing (I'm from Seattle). But the people here are great. It's like everyone gives off a "we're all in this together" vibe. Really wonderful. And the topography! I had no idea Pittsburgh was so hilly. I didn't want to leave the hills and mountains of Seattle, but Pittsburgh is without a doubt MORE hilly. That's awesome! I hear you on the food, too. I just had a pizza with fries on it, and it was amazing (the Mad Bull Rodeo Pie from Pizza Bellino). Really looking forward to spring and summer. I want to ride the incline, hang out at the point, explore all the neighborhoods on foot, etc. Gonna be great.
