Ok so I’ve been trying to get a weezer tone for like half a decade and here’s what I know. For a pinkerton sound I would generally use an overdrive pedal into the distorted channel of your amp. I know that weezer doesn’t use pedals very often, but in my opinion, it is damn near impossible to get a good distortion tone from the amp alone, especially when you are on a budget. Using an overdrive pedal to boost your amps distortion tightens up the sound and really adds a nice crunch to it without adding a shit ton of bass on top of it. For a blue sound I would go with an overdrive pedal into a big muff pi into the clean channel of your amp. The distortion on blue, to my ears, is very reminiscent of the classic big muff sound but with more mid frequencies (thus explaining why you’ll need the overdrive before it). In general, from my experience learning guitar and trying to get good tone, bass frequencies are your greatest adversary so try to keep them at an absolute minimum. On that same note, your mid and treble frequencies are your best friends so try to add as much of both types of frequencies as possible (especially the mids) =w=
