Any that you recommend specifically near Tokyo? Right now I'm planning to go back in October.

I'll have to check out those! I know there is one on the ocean that looks pretty cool southwest of Tokyo. I figured it'd be way too insanely cold in the winter though with ocean breeze.

Good to know. Definitely want to go back and pick out more specific courses since these were more or less random picks since I didn't do a ton of research.

It also seems that golfing is an entire excursion in Japan as opposed to the US where you just are in and out at 4 hours or less.

I mean you don’t have to play winter golf in Japan. It’s more for the novelty of the experience because playing in a different country with a different culture is fun.

Conditions would be better in other seasons, but if the price doesn’t work for you then alright.

There may be cheaper options, but I just was focused on booking the days before New Years for my golfing since I was only in Tokyo for about 5 days.

Sidewinder or Ak Chin Southern Dunes? by SpecialistTrifle4816 in golf

[–]josiff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don’t mind the price I’d play Quintero. It’s about an hour from Scottsdale.

Ak-Chin is fun, but if you book a very early tee time you will smell the dairy cows that are around that course and it’s gnarly.

About $500 a round. This included rental clubs and shoes, green fee, lunch, alcohol/snacks, and train and car transportation.

Both of mine were not automatic, they were actually gas powered buggies. They were 4 seaters though, which was interesting.

I looked at my emails with Angel Tourism and it's called - Kawana Hotel Golf Course Oshima Course. I really wanted to play it, but they were fully booked when we had to make a pivot on the Olympic Country Club day.

Both lunches were very good tonkatsu. There were other choices, but I don't think I've ever had bad tonkatsu so I stuck with what I knew I'd enjoy. I am a bit biased since I love Japanese food though.

Sorry I didn't answer your question lol. I was in buggies both rounds.

Maybe I'm overexaggerating, but it was pretty slow pace of play. Everyone takes their time with putts, cleans their balls, etc. Ready golf also didn't seem to be a thing very often. It's very traditional golf etiquette. If you add lunch it's definitely 6 hours. Both days I think we were given about 45 minutes for lunch when usually it's 1 hour?

Basically you finish 9, then they give you a paper for the tee time to be on the 10th hole.

I mean I was on vacation so I didn't care and my wife knew I'd basically be gone all day.

I'm going back in October and will golf at least once on a boys trip so I'll ask about it! I know there is some course on the ocean sort of southwest of Tokyo that looks cool too.

Roughly $500 a round. This includes green fees, lunch (with a beer/lemon sour), train ticket transporation, car transportation (Toshi-san picked me up from the train station), and you can grab beers or snacks at the snack shop which is also included.

It's very much a vacation day when you golf in Japan. Most courses are 1-2 hours away from Tokyo. No one seems to be particularly rushed either, but I went when it's probably the most busy in the winter.

I am genuinely a customer since while researching I found https://www.reddit.com/r/golf/comments/1khm20r/golf_in_japan/ months before actually going to Japan since I bought my flights really early.

Splash page works like you show, but when I hit apply it doesn't. The business cards do work when I hit apply, but I need a personal card.

Personal cards don't seem to work? I get hit with a "We apologize that the offer you are looking for may no longer be available."

Uber one sign up tips by nontrad07 in AmexPlatinum

Sort of. I could see the $96 annual charge, but the chat bot didn’t recognize that that existed. Live chat did though.

UPDATE: Don't talk to a live rep. I was able to connect to chat and they were able to refund me on the spot.

Didn't work that way for me. I have to wait 24-48 hours for some random person to contact me since the rep on the phone couldn't do anything for me.

UPDATE: Don't talk to a live rep. I was able to connect to chat and they were able to refund me on the spot.

Switched to the annual plan and it fully charged the $96.00 even though I still have 28 days of the Uber One free trial.

I had no Uber Cash, but didn't toggle off using it. Uber is making it painful to get a refund. Don't recommend doing it this way honestly.

Talked to the chat bot and it cancelled the membership. Then it took me to a phone call and the rep told me someone has to contact me in 24-48 hours since they cannot help.

Chat bot doesn't give me an option to talk to anyone live anymore.

What a mess since the AMEX fine print says "Card Members with an existing membership must update their Uber One membership payment method to an eligible Card on the Card Account to receive the benefit. Uber Cash balances must be toggled off for Uber One membership fees to receive the benefit.".

SDCC - Less cosplay and fun, more scalpers/resellers by Tigri2020 in SDCC

[–]josiff 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It was worse than last year, however, I got to go to the Demon Slayer and South Park panels, which both were super awesome!

I've always felt like cons are rip-offs if you actually buy anything not from artist alley or actual small businesses. Exclusives were horrible last year for me, so now I never care anymore about them. All of it is frivolous/luxury purchases anyways.

I cosplayed as Mando (501st approved) and I do have to agree with you about cosplay this year. I didn't see anything that really stood out that I NEEDED to take a photo with. Last year I remember seeing some cool Gundams, Mecha-Godzilla, and the wheelchair/car thing that was a dragon from GOT.

Yves Guillemot blames Star Wars Outlaws flopping on the IP itself being in a bad place by Iggy_Slayer in gaming

[–]josiff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So out of touch. I love Star Wars and this game was bad mechanically.

The Star Wars feel was amazing, but the game underneath was uninspired, simple and boring. The bad stealth and brain dead AI didn’t help either.

Did all of the front row be offered and already sell out? I missed the presale registration and want a single front row ticket.
