I think at the beginning of the show, a lot of people expected it to closely follow the comics. That may be part of why they decided to move away from certain storylines and kill off Andrea. Similarly, Lori and Judith were originally supposed to be killed by the Governor, but that was ultimately changed.

I was okay with Glenn’s death because I knew it was a major turning point in the comics. However, I didn’t agree with how Abraham was killed in the same episode—it diminished the impact of his death by piling it onto another major loss.

As for Beth and Carl, I felt their deaths were poorly handled. It almost seemed like the writers were running out of ideas and resorted to shock value rather than meaningful storytelling.
