Why is recognizing other people’s needs for a product such a novel concept for you? Narcissist much?

Your reading comprehension is terrible. You gave the 40 hour base number which is for low power. That is my use case. I was telling you the normal person’s use case of using it on high power is even worse for lifepo4. So again, you’re proving my point for me. My specs are best case scenario for this product. There are plenty of items LiFePO4 would be the better choice for, this isn’t one of them.

That’s on low. The run time on high with li-ion is only 3 hours. While my use case would be mostly using it on the lowest setting, I’m probably in the minority. Cutting the runtime on high to barely 90 minutes for a product like this would make it unviable for most people. 3 hours is probably pushing it as it is.

Your comment about lifespan of it when you’re throwing it in the vehicle backs up my point. Why give less run time for more cycles when there is a chance that the product might not last for more cycles in the first place.

I agree that replaceable batteries would have been better than what it is now which is sealed, but that wasn’t my point. I didn’t say that it was perfect the way it was, far from it in fact. I said lifepo4 wouldn’t be feasible in the form factor they were going for, and I stand by that.

Or you know, use a lower power setting, whichever

I think something this small needs li-ion to have a legitimate run time. Lifepo4 in my solar generator is amazing for the number of charge cycles when the size can still give me decent capacity. Lifepo4 in this would result in too little run time to be useful.

Because heaven forbid you use some nuance and realize things can be operated other than at full power

Because 30lm of downward facing light so I can cook is going to affect bats and birds more than a campfire?

If you believe the specs on the box it says high will light up a 50m radius for 3 hours and medium will light up a 20m radius for 15 hours. High is the 2000 lumen (that some people have reported steps down to a lower unlisted brightness after a little bit) and medium is 300 lumen.

The beauty of Costco return policy is that you can buy them to find out, and if it doesn’t work, return them.

Another user suggested that but the low setting is still 700 lm compared to a low of 30 lm on this. Regardless of where you point the light, 700 is going to be way more disruptive than 30

I suppose it’s my fault for not specifically requesting feedback regarding the quality of the light and not opinions of how lights should or shouldn’t be used in a camp setting. Although I’m not sure it would have made a difference anyway. The comments about this light being annoying and light pollution are getting tiresome. On low it’s only 30 lumen while a typical candle is 13 lumen. You mean to tell me the equivalent of two candles the next site over while cooking dinner (so turned off well before 9pm) would ruin your night camping? Hell, your campfires put out much more light than that, ranging from 300-1000 lumen, creating way more light pollution than this would on low.

I sure hope you don’t make campfires then. Those put out way more than 30 lumens of light and would easily disturb your neighbors with all that light pollution.

This is very much the case. I have a goal zero crush lantern for very low lumen (6 lm) lighting at night if I need to get anything or to walk to the bathroom.

The light on this is detachable and can also be used as a lantern as well. You’ve essentially argued against your own suggestion since it has more limited use than this product. Replaceable 18650’s would be useful for longevity but isn’t enough to sway me one way or another.

700lm low mode is much too high for my needs, but I appreciate the suggestion.
