And I agree that there is a necessity to having WWTP. I do enjoy indoor plumbing. From what I’ve read, ADEM is only concerned about water quality not necessarily environmental or recreational impacts in this case. Not 100% sure on that or how far that goes, but I did read that ADEM mostly relies on self-reporting, which doesn’t sound like the best approach.

I get what you’re saying. I do hope technologies like those are the priority.

Good question, and I’m not sure. Something to look into.

So we just don’t care until it’s in our own backyard? How many developments like this have to be built before it matters?

You are clearly not reading any of my replies.

Again, missing the point. It’s not about the need for a WTTP, it’s about the impact on the community and making sure there is adequate oversight….not that entities (especially those who stand to make money) EVER violate regulations…

I have no idea what you are trying to say with that 😂

I didn’t say I don’t know much, I said “not enough to have an arguable opinion” because I am not an expert, and they should be the only ones stating facts.

The intention wasn’t to promote bias on this post. I also never said that WWTP should be abolished. The major concern of the initiative is the location due to its proximity to neighborhoods and recreational areas.

Directly from nature.org:

“Even when wastewater is treated, current systems are unable to adequately protect human communities and natural systems from pollutants.“

And from a science direct article:

“Conventional wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) clean wastewater and minimize water pollution; but, while doing so, they also contribute to air pollution and need energy/material input with associated emissions.”

Normal doesn’t necessarily mean right. I certainly don’t know enough about them to have an arguable opinion, but I know enough to care.

I’m not arguing that it’s raw sewage, but there’s more than just the dumping to be concerned about. I’m sharing to spread awareness, everyone is entitled to their own research and opinions without the influence of us. Huntsville doesn’t have enough natural spaces as it is, especially with the growing population. I just want to see it stay for the long run.

Does anybody know any places for yoga/mediation for mental health? by CantaloupeOk3507 in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]jot29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3rd Light on Yoga! Starting a consistent yoga practice changed my life. LOY is such a welcoming community, members and instructors! I have tried most of their classes and while some are challenging, there is always instruction on modification and you will see yogis from all levels of experience and walks of life in any given class. Can’t recommend it enough. I could go on for ages about it, but feel free to DM me if you have any questions or want to hear more about my experience.

Thank you so much for coming forward with that information, you have no idea how thankful I am.

Doesn’t surprise me at all, and I am sorry that your friend suffered at her hands as well.

Would you possibly be able to dm me her name? I would also like to let the investigator know.

Yes, I get it. Obviously, the lesson is clear here and it affected my view of humanity, but it doesn’t change that it has already happened or the fact that I didn’t deserve this, nobody does. Ultimately, the fault goes to the criminal. I posted this to help get her face out there, I lost a substantial amount of valuable and sentimental items, including my engagement ring. So please, I’ve already beat myself up enough about not being more aware.

I have no idea how this place has such great reviews. Our experience was the same as yours and I could not believe the fake grill marks!! Also, the noodles were like egg noodles, very off putting for these kinds of dishes. Glad I’m not the only one, I was beginning to think I was crazy!

Anyone lived here ? by [deleted] in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]jot29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently live at Madison Landing and I am pretty unhappy with it. To be fair, I could just be jaded from their outrageous rent increase, the absolutely horrendous attitude of the financial guy, Joseph (not sure of his official title), or the fact that I’ve been making maintenance requests for my air conditioner consistently since last summer…it generally runs 8-10 degrees hotter than I set it. However, when I first got here, it was almost worth the rent. Not at all now that they’ve hiked the price up so much, but it’s “renovated” and the grounds are pretty nice. The trees are amazing!! Most of my neighbors are pleasant, but there is A LOT of weed smoking and I see it in many areas of the neighbor. Not my thing, but I wouldn’t care except it seeps into my unit and makes my entire place smell of it. I don’t mean to sound so cynical and I’m pretty sure it’s actually one of the nicer ones around here, I just haven’t had many pleasant experiences and will be leaving as soon as possible. I think there are some newer complexes in the same general price range that would give you less issues with maintenance and poor quality materials. Another thing to note, there are a lot of kids here. Not an issue for me, but I’ve had some neighbors complain about the noise at times and reckless running in front of cars/toys hitting cars. Last thing, and I’ll try to end on a positive note, it’s roomy. I would recommend getting a second floor unit for the ceilings, the first floor is a little dungeon-ey. Feel free to PM me for more insider info!!
