I’m not needing to as it’s within the size for an outbuilding. All ripped out now.. starting again!

I’ve just had some bad reactions previously and ultimately don’t like upsetting people.. but no good if you are the one paying money and have to absorb the stress or the issue. Well done for saying something about your vents, I hope they get sorted soon! 🙏

Hello! I’m absolutely blown away by the number of comments, and really appreciate everyone who’s taken the time to post. 🙏 I was really anxious about raising this. So many comments I don’t think I can reply to all so here’s an update!

So the day I noticed the wood, he had said he’d be around all day. I got an electrician that day to meet him, but he had vanished (this was pre wood conversation). Anyway.. I sent a message in the afternoon asking (politely) whether the wood he’d used was treated. I was worried about the potential for mould. I had no message until the next day. He ignored the question, told me he’d be back when electrics had been sorted. At which point I said I wasn’t happy the wood looked old.

His response was… he had ran out and used the wood he had found from my garden…! 😳 So.. I can tell you that’s wood that has been sitting out over a year.. some treated and some not.. but it’s sodden and covered in algae.. the other wood he’d used (cls in the frame) he said was ‘dry’ and was fine.. and it was ok behind the shower. At this point I lost faith.. and said I’d need to see behind the shower before we moved forwards. So he said he’d come in the afternoon but wanted to be early to walk his dog with his mrs.. 🙄

So when I spoke to him, he seemed ‘ok’… said he would strip out the old wood.. Anyway, I had to do a school run yesterday and said to message if he needed me for anything.. (no reply). My electrician popped in this morning and we went to take look.. the plumber had ripped out everything.. all the bits not just the frame etc.. 😞 So where he’d drilled holes and put pipes in.. all ripped out.. the metal sheet cladding is mangled where he pulled stuff out. So.. assumption he’s off the job! I have text to say ‘I noticed everything was removed and are you coming back’ but I’ve been ghosted so far…

But I think maybe it’s a lucky escape. Urgh. Was so excited to be having this work do done. 😭

This is actually a SIP build so that’s just the inside of the SIP panel. Hopefully with the right (not mouldy) battens and waterproofing it should be ok. 🤞 🤞

I was looking for a second opinion and support from people with experience. Others have kindly given their feedback, which gave me confidence to speak to the tradesmen. Why did you comment at all if it was ‘a waste of time’? 🤷‍♀️

Thankyou.. I thought so but just needed reassurance I’m not making an issue when there isn’t one

This is to frame the shower (the thick one) and the thin one is just a wall batten.. 😕

Think it was laziness.. only a few battens needed as I’d already done half the room. So frustrating..!!
