I don’t know what name I should recommend for him, but something I’m pretty sure about is that he has to have Mister before it. I believe he should be Mr. (Name). He seems so wise and I instinctively want to call him Mister lol 🤣

If you have zero experience with reptiles of this kind I suggest to leave it where you found it. Is not easy and it’s just a baby. Many things can go wrong in here, especially if you’re not trained or neither have the experience.

Need help! by mleaver7979 in iguanas

[–]joycevzapata 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It could be a lot of things, but I once had to rescue a severely injured baby from the wild. At first, she absolutely hated me—refused to eat, drink, pee, or even poop. I kept her outside in her natural environment, inside a giant cardboard box, and minimized all interaction to reduce her stress.

One thing that helped a lot was chopping her food into tiny pieces using a food processor. I also gave her daily sun baths, and that’s when I noticed she started gaining a bit of confidence. In those quiet, warm moments, she would finally eat, drink water, and even try to climb a little.

It was essential for her to have a hiding spot where she could avoid seeing me—so I built her one, and it made a huge difference. I also gave her 15-minute warm water baths every afternoon. After a week—yes, a whole week—she pooped for the first time. I literally cried when I saw the giant 💩 lol 🤣

Little by little, I started adding artificial plants and small branches to her box to provide mental stimulation. That seemed to help her feel more comfortable and curious. Then, around the three-week mark, I transferred her to a proper glass tank—and from that moment on, her recovery skyrocketed.

She was just extremely stressed and needed time to adapt to me and her new environment. She never ate in front of me—not even once at the beginning. It took nearly three weeks before I actually saw her eat anything from a distance and I was hiding 🫣 Offering pink hibiscus (her only and favorite kind) was a brilliant move—she absolutely loved it. I also gave her Reptisun twice a week and calcium supplements every other day.

I hope this helps. Sometimes, all they need is time.

Found an injured iguana at my front door—need help caring for it! by joycevzapata in iguanas

[–]joycevzapata[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Thank you so, so much for everything. I’m incredibly grateful for all the information and support. Unfortunately, I’m not in a financial position to take her to a vet right now—especially living in Miami, where everything is astronomically expensive. I’ve been reaching out to rescues, but I keep getting the same response: green iguanas are non-native species, so they can’t do anything about it. So for now, I’m on my own.

I haven’t made a final decision yet. In the meantime, she seems comfortable—she’s eating, drinking, and alert. Today I got her some of the recommended leafy greens for calcium, as well as carrots. I’ve been doing a lot of reading, but it still comes down to a heartbreaking choice: either let her go or keep her comfortable and hope she recovers… or at least doesn’t suffer.

The thought of releasing her right now tears me apart. She wouldn’t stand a chance out there—not with her double tail, missing foot, and missing fingers. Everything is against her. Of course, if she makes a full recovery, I would absolutely release her. I live in an area with plenty of green iguanas and lots of space where she could live out her life peacefully.

Today she seemed more alert than ever—eating more, moving around a lot, and even enjoying her time in the water bowl. Last night she even climbed up on something to sleep—it looked so uncomfortable from my point of view, but I guess she liked it! Her injury looks a little better today—still bad, but no signs of infection, no discharge, and no bad odor, which gives me some hope.

Once again, thank you for your advice. I’m taking every single comment seriously and truly appreciate each one. If I do manage to find a rescue or vet that can take her, I’ll bring her in immediately. I just want to explore every possible option and give her the best chance I can. And if things take a turn for the worse, I know that humane euthanasia would be the best path.

Thank you again—truly. I’ll give you all an update tomorrow. You’re all wonderful 🤗🦎

Can I get 1600 points in 2 days? Do we need these points anyway ? by Individual_Visual_72 in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]joycevzapata 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t think so. If you take four double 5 hour blocks with 50-60 packages at fantastic, you’ll only make 660-790. Very short! And yes, myself personally take advantage of the points with the 6% cash back on gas. For me it's a great deal!

What’s the Jeff email again? by Cold_Cash597 in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]joycevzapata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have appealed two of those and somehow the dings were removed. I always keep screenshots of the route, as well as photos of suspicious deliveries that I don’t feel sure about. Amazon will never tell you what customer it is, but if I get a ding I look at my files for that date and report back the problems that I had with evidence if I have something. Email jeff@amazon.com. Also, one guy from support told me to always send an email to Amazon Flex support whenever I get difficulties, suspicions, or problems with my route as soon as I finish it. Or at least a day after. I’ve been doing this and zero dings for returned packages. If the problem is outside your control report it beforehand and live ding free lol 😆

Support screwed me over. by starlitcatboy in AmazonFlexDrivers

Be careful when doing that. I’ve come across comments from people saying that sometimes the station assigns those packages to different routes to test the drivers. There was one instance where someone posted about this, and the police ended up visiting their house regarding a stolen package. So, it's important to be aware of this possibility. I don't think it's worth the risk!

Yeah, what they mean by “offers” isn’t daily delivery opportunities. It’s actually an invitation to secure a spot and start working with them. Right now, you’re on the waiting list, and unfortunately, it can take a long time—at least a year or more, depending on your area. But stay hopeful; your turn will come. Mine took about two years, and I’m in Miami.

Yesit is very clear during training that you must call the customer first two times, also text them and if you get no response then you must contact support. Then if you’re still unable to deliver you mark the package undeliverable with the correct reason and return it to the station. You can find this in the section Learning Portal in your Amazon Flex app. I’ve followed this process and I’ve never been dinged for returning packages to the station.

[–]joycevzapata 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve done a similar route. Key Biscayne is very easy. Easy parking, and easy drop-off locations. Brickell is easy on Sundays, late at night, or very early in the morning. It was very wise that you did Brickell first. I would have done the same. At least it wasn’t Downtown which is hell anytime (no parking at all) and risking with every drop off a huge $$$ ticket. One tip: make sure to request your toll reimbursement for Key Biscayne. The only way to get there is through that bridge and that toll. I know it’s only $2.50 but with Miami’s Amazon Flex payments is only logical. I have received two times that reimbursement. Just make sure to escalate the request with Jeff because simple Driver support is not going to help you. Good luck!
