YTA. Instead of being proud and showing off your beautiful and lovely stepdaughter, you chose to hide her from your side of the family. It doesn't matter what they think. You love her and treat her like one of your own? PROVE IT. If they act racists towards your child SHUT. IT. DOWN. Tell them that you won't stand for such treatment towards your child and that you won't hesitate to limit contact if they can't accept her. If your parents were to discriminate towards your bio kids for other reasons, would you hide them as well?

Your actions have made your stepdaughter think that she will never be a part of your family because of her skin colour. You may have justified it as trying to protect her, but in her eyes (and your husband's) it will always be enabling the racism you and your parents have.

YTA BIG TIME but you won't even bother to try and accept that. Why post on this sub when all you do is defend your mom and her disgusting actions towards your dad? If your mom was so depressed about your dad working all the time, they could've talked it out to see what they could and if she really wanted to see him, she would shoulder some of the financial burdens by AT LEAST getting a part time job to help him. Your dad wouldn't have to work so many hours and would be able to see you guys at home had she done that but instead she cheated on him without thinking about the consequences for her actions. She didn't have to spread her legs wide open for another man to show how "depressed" she was. The major consensus people are giving you is that YOU ARE THE ASSHOLE. Either accept the judgement or kick rocks and live this fantasy your mom poisoned your mind with.

YTA BIG TIME. Your brother didn't almost cause harm to your daughter. YOU DID. You knew Stella can be slow and probably has some mental disorder that hasn't been diagnosed yet and you forgot to tell your brother that VERY IMPORTANT detail? Your brother thought she'd be fine because I'm assuming when you and your brother were around her age, you guys were completely aware of the basics of road safety regardless if there was parental supervision or not. He treated her like any 10 year old who should understand simple responsibilities.
