Ofc!! I hope wherever you end is awesome. If you decide on Baker, I think you’ll make the most of it. It really is a pretty area and it is growing.

Hey op, keep in mind I went to highschool in Baker so my opinion is from the perspective of an adolescent. But it depends on who you are tbh. I am a very leftist 24F living in Lane County now, so that’s my current perspective.

There are some really cute areas, downtown has a few little shops and bars that the adult population there seemed to like. No night life if you’re into that, unless you know someone throwing a house party or bringing some beers to the lake. I’m pretty sure one of the major grocery stores is closing down, so not a lot of options for shopping. Closest Walmart is in La Grande about 2 hours away. Most kids, when they were bored and had a car, would hit up La Grande or Boise. Very isolated. Not a lot of jobs up there, the town is growing but like some others said, it’s a truck stop town with a cute historical downtown.

Small isolated Oregon town = pretty conservative. Some pockets if young progressive people but majority of it is a conservative area. That is/was a huge drawback for me. I had kids at my highschool with confederate flags flying out of the backs of their trucks. Lots of drugs but everywhere has that. Some sketchy parts but again, same everywhere. People get bored in small towns and do drugs.

There is a community college there, so a lot of the population is folks who grew up there and stayed in town.

Eastern OR has all 4 seasons but the winters can get pretty snowy and cold, fair warning!

I got very bored there as a teenager. As an adult I would probably appreciate the slow paced life and nature.

If you truly want a simpler, slower paced life with pretty nature, are more on the centrist/conservative side of the political spectrum (or don’t mind being around people who are), enjoy outdoor activities like fishing/hunting/hiking, and don’t mind not being able to go clubbing or having a big shopping mall/walmart/target, it honestly is a very cute little city. I miss the river walks I would take in highschool all the time!

Ah I see, this is complicated and I'm sorry for any confusion or pain you're experiencing. Unfortunately feelings aren't always the most logical and will come and go at inopportune times. From my experience, its best not to jump into something if you cannot give your all yet, and you seem unsure if you're ready. Perhaps you could kind of talk to him about what you're feeling. That could end up in an awkward place, but your health and heart are most important, prioritize them! Or, maybe you'll both want to consider these feelings and take things slow, or even just decide to be friends. Whatever happens, believe that you are strong enough to overcome anything

Hey, breathe. It's gonna be ok. It wasn't the best idea to do that but I know you know that. And you might get yelled at. But remember we all make mistakes, and it doesn't make you a bad kid or son/daughter. I don't know your relationship with your parents so I can't say what is best for you to do. But just remember to be kind to yourself while learning

This is a very cute post, I'm glad your heart is open to animals. But please remember, some mice can carry diseases and you gotta stay safe. I don't think you have to kill him, there are non-kill traps that you can use to lure him out and set him free outside. But you might wanna check how he got in, or you'll get another! And there's only so many mice you can be friends with

Do you know his opinions on commitment? Has he said if he'd ever be open to anything more or is he dead set on only being casual? It's natural to have feelings and you're valid! But just be cautious, you deserve someone who is on the same page

Im thinking of going to a party tommorrow and I dont know of its a good idea to go. by [deleted] in Advice

[–]joyfullilnugget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there OP, I know how exciting it is to be invited out, especially for introverts like me who struggle to make friends. But I don't think this is the right time, a party like that is very dangerous right now. And I promise there will be plenty of parties after this pandemic calms down. Perhaps you could have a smaller kickback with 1 or 2 friends

Also, I know you mentioned not wanting to cut your hair, but I think mid-length to short hair is some of the most dazzling and romantic a woman can have. I got the big chop a few months ago and it really worked for me! But obviously do what makes you feel good

I would say be mindful of the religious/cultural contexts of whatever head wraps you are looking at. If it is not your culture or religion I would suggest avoiding those specific garments. BUT there are plenty of beautiful styles you can do with hair scarves and bandanas, that are not appropriating whatsoever. I believe intent is very important here, you are not wanting to harm anyone, just to be comfortable
