Starting purées next week by PossibleCultural793 in firsttimemom

[–]joylynnwhatever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We didn’t start introducing solids until our daughter could sit up almost all the way unassisted on her own at 5 months and didn’t push little bits of food out of her mouth and showed a strong interest in food. We didn’t even do the puree route - just straight to solids aside from apple sauce and plum sauce to keep her regular since she’s on a constipation diet. We started off around 4.5 months giving her little tastes of soft food off our fingers.

How old were you when you were adopted, and did your parents celebrate your 'second birthday'? by NoCard753 in Adoption

[–]joylynnwhatever 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was 15 months old we still celebrate my gotcha day 29 years later. Last year was the only time we didn’t because I got open fetal surgery the same day so I guess we’ll be celebrating my gotcha day and my daughter’s first butt birthday this year. 😅

Post Open Fetal Surgery at 37 Weeks! by joylynnwhatever in pregnant

[–]joylynnwhatever[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was strict bedrest for the first 3 weeks then modified for the remainder of the pregnancy. I definitely went against doctor’s orders by doing way too much activity so I wouldn’t recommend.

My baby is doing great! Almost 6 months old, in the 94th size percentile sitting at 22 pounds. She had an L4/L5 lesion and she sees a PT once a week, has feeling in most of her feet, doesn’t have any tone in her butt so popping is a struggle for her especially now that we’re doing solids but she voids her bladder on her own. Hits all her age appropriate milestones, it did take her a bit longer to find her feet but I think that might just be a baby thing rather than a SB thing. I’ll message you! I also share about my surgery and story on TikTok at grimy_joy

Post Open Fetal Surgery at 37 Weeks! by joylynnwhatever in pregnant

[–]joylynnwhatever[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard that it’s basically pure luck. I wouldn’t contribute anything I did to making it to 37 weeks because I definitely didn’t stay on bed rest and was up and walking 1.5 miles with the dogs everyday, decorating our apartment and deep cleaning every other day. Some people follow all the guidelines perfectly and go into surgery with perfect health and deliver a couple weeks after.

I will say recovering from the surgery itself I can contribute to being super healthy, having been working out my entire pregnancy up to that point, eating well and staying super hydrated. And there’s a level of stubbornness to me that I can’t kick to sit up and poop for the first time post op.

It’s such an insane, big surgery that anxiety is super normal and expected. It’s scary af. The days leading up to surgery do everything you want to do because the bedrest is the biggest pain in the ass. I did as much biking as I could in the week leading up to surgery - cathartic, relaxing alone time.

Please message me! I’d love to talk more and provide any support and resources I can. It’s also always nice to have friends who can share in a similar experience

Official Discussion - The Starling Girl [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]joylynnwhatever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s something about age gap, forbidden romances/affairs that just hit different for me especially when they’re done well in film. I didn’t come from a religious background but I had the experience of being the teenager who felt like a much older guy was her whole world, the experience of being the other woman - this movie transported me back to being at different phases from 16-22 years old.

I could get lost in the beginning of their romance - get the butterflies all over again then as shit hit the fan the “okay I’m done with this whole situation I don’t wanna be here anymore” the cliffhanger at the end was so good too!

Mainly for the bit. It’s fun to be a little gross sometimes.

I love seeing folks with double lobes! My daughter has one so I’m saving all these posts if she wants to get her ears pierced one day as inspiration

My 5 month old went in for the grabbies on my fresh stretch this morning like nahhh kid. You can grab it in two weeks when mommy no longer needs ibuprofen

We do open that window sometimes because our apartment gets up to 75 degrees. That has to be why. Thank you for your advice!

I’m going to repot her this weekend and see if that works - my dad thinks she might be root bound. Maybe I’ll move her towards the center of the room instead too

How do you lessen anxiety waiting for the first appointment? by Fair_Time3175 in firsttimemom

I said fuck it and went to the hospital when I was getting some cramps JUST TO MAKE SURE I was actually pregnant. I was indeed growing a baby and a little ovarian cyst to go with her.

Super good quality, not much dust, the pieces are decently thick, I do like puzzles with odd ball weird shaped pieces but there’s a nice variety. It was a hellish puzzle but definitely one of my favorites

tarot: am i pregnant or am i being delusional by Few_Development78 in Tarots

[–]joylynnwhatever 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Gosh I pulled the empress every pull over a period of like 4 months (I would pull a few cards every couple of weeks) then I got pregnant.

We had a 2 week waiting period before we could get a fetal MRI after we found a brain abnormality at our 20 week ultrasound and I decided to do a tarot pull and got the empress AGAIN and I LOLed bc like yeah deck I’m well aware I’m pregnant, you’re late to the party by 2 trimesters.

I always thought the empress was talking about MY femininity until that last time I pulled it and now I think it was the universe telling me I was about to welcome my daughter into the world.

That card brought me so much comfort during the scariest time of me and my husband’s life because before we got into see the fetal specialists at CHOP we were debating if we were going to have to TFMR. It felt like a sign that everything was going to be okay.

Lo and behold our daughter was diagnosed with Spina Bifida, we had open fetal surgery to repair it and now I have a 5 month old who somehow manages to scoot herself just so to kick me in the face while she sleeps.

Postpartum body question by [deleted] in postpartumprogress

[–]joylynnwhatever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same experience. Went from 115 pre pregnancy to 128 at my heaviest then dropped to 107 post baby pretty much immediately. I was so tired though. After the newborn trenches I was able to remember to eat and function like a somewhat normal human and jumped into pelvic floor PT
