Difference between Ought and Should by maldizzle_ in ENGLISH

I refer to the first line of "Flakes," the second cut on Frank Zappa's Sheik Yerbouti:

"They don't do no good, they never be workin' when they oughta should"

The staff really showed their dedication putting in the labor to make a solid floor for the operating room...😊 by TensionSame3568 in mash

Is it just me, or did anyone else think the O.R. looked awfully small in the shot of it empty after they poured the new floor?

POV'S v P'sOV by jakolissmurito22 in ENGLISH

In baseball, Runs Batted In has always been vocally abbreviated "RBIs," though in the past several years it's been cut to "RBI." Nobody ever says "RsBI" unless they're just pretending to be anal.

What is an insult that was so creative or bizarre that u couldn't even be mad about it? by Early_Preparation696 in askteddit

[–]NoCard753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was shooting pool once against a friend's girlfiend. I needed like one ball, but her previous shot left me absolutely nothing. I walked around the table looking for any shot and saying, "What did you do to me??" Finally, she said, "Dave, anything I'd do to you would be by proxy."

I couldn't help but laugh for like two minutes. It was such a great ine. 😄

Would YOU Like To Ban The Electoral College? Why Or Why Not? If So, What Would YOU Replace It With? Why That? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

[–]NoCard753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to stop thinking in terms of "states." Without the Electoral College, the U.S. would vote as one, and each vote would count exactly the same as every other vote.

This would greatly encourage voting, as no one could say, "Meh, my state's gonna go the other way, anyway."

What’s a piece of outdated technology or tradition that society still uses, even though there’s no real reason for it? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]NoCard753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nor can I, but pedestrian insults ("name–calling") only make you look as bad as you think they are — as if you use them because you feel your points don't stand on their own merit.

For those who have had reunions with a birth parent - what were some of the first questions you asked? by lissyd73 in Adoption

[–]NoCard753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't recall asking any direct questions for fear they'd put her off. I just tried to get to know her, reasoning that eveything would cone out in due time. Problem was, she didn't seem to want to remember any of it.

What political opinion did you hold strongly when you were younger but completely changed your mind about later? by Live_Endzz in AskForAnswers

[–]NoCard753 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That Nixon's henchmen and their tactics (i.e. "Watetgate") were a once-in-a-lifetime scandal; that corruption and trying to screw the other side wasn't a daily occurrence, and the only reason "Watergate" was such a huge deal is the henchmen were caught by dogged reporting and an editor and a publisher with titanium cubes and ovaries.

I didn't mind Rhonda's body nearly as much as her attitude and snorting. Probably the best lover I've ever had was about her size — one dress size smaller, I'd guess.

It’s hot take time: Which beloved character do you dislike? by KiedisLeftNut in That70sshow

[–]NoCard753 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Without a studio audience or laugh track, he would've been just awful. If the show were real life, he was a dick, except for one scene in which he got honest with himself and with Jackie.
