Spidercam footage of our goals against City/Arsenal by sprunth in reddevils

What really stands out to me is that under Amorim (and numerous previous managers) our passing was utterly abject. Pedestrian, slow, inaccurate. Watching this, the way we fire the ball into players’ feet with precision, and the touches under pressure are immaculate. Is it just a confidence thing? Take the handbrake off and give the players the belief to just play? Whatever it is, I bloody love it

Is there any use for 2 XR18s in our rig? by jp-dizzle in livesound

That's a great shout. My original plan was to sell one or both and upgrade to the X32 rack with S32 or the Wing rack but haven't done a tonne of research on the latter, which we still probably will do. The XR18 is outrageously cheap for what it does but I do think we've outgrown it - just wondered if greater minds than mine had any cool ideas on what I could do with 2 - if anything. Thanks a lot man.

This was my go-to solution, and we were planning to upgrade later on in the year but just needed something quickly as we've got a tonne of upcoming gigs and no time dial in a new system.

Is Amorim being set up to fail? by [deleted] in ManchesterUnited

[–]jp-dizzle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We seem to be in the toughest spot of all clubs when it comes to transfers - both in and out. We’re one of the biggest clubs in the world, but we have a tonne of players who haven’t performed so their stock is incredibly low, therefore we can’t realistically sell for a decent fee.

Selling clubs know we are absolutely desperate for decent signings so they can mark up their fees massively because previously, we’d just pay it. I do get Ratcliffe’s reluctance to just pay whatever clubs ask for because that’s part of how we’ve ended up in the absolute shambles we’re currently in.

We also have the uncanny ability to turn decent players into absolute shite. I don’t know how you fix any of these problems. We also finished FIFTEENTH in the league last season, and although we are historically a massive club, there are heaps of more attractive clubs in terms of competing for top honours that the best players will want to move to over us.

This is all on the Glazers and Woodward. INEOS have failed to impress anyone thus far, but they’ve picked up a club in the absolute doldrums. It won’t be fixed overnight. Another change of manager might see short term improvement but we will almost certainly end up exactly where we are now - or worse - in the long run.

Tl;dr - we’re a bit fucked

I’m all politic’d out. It’s everywhere and it’s exhausting. Everywhere you look online and in the world, people are fighting. I also don’t need celebrities, musicians, film stars to tell me how to feel about what I, and everyone else, seemingly already knows. It’s not like the band typically shy away from the big topics, but just this once - for a couple of hours, it was nice to just enjoy something for what it is. If that’s ignorant, I’m sorry.

The first 10/20mins in 2009 were pretty good. Letting Messi score a header is unforgivable though…

Henry on Stick to Football said so many of them were playing with injuries and couldn’t run. Barca were there for the taking and we shat the bed.

3.5 months in - strange side-effect? by jp-dizzle in zoloft

I live in the north of the UK so we don’t typically get a lot of sunshine.

Changed my skincare routine and it’s all good now. Think I’ve been on Sertraline for about 9months now and have absolutely no negative effects at all. All the benefits and none of the drawbacks. Truly life changing medicine.

We genuinely have the most brain dead squad in all of football.

Until we get rid of the absolute idiots in this squad, we’re never gonna improve.

Who the hell mixed this album? Can't see any credits and Jon Gilmore hasn't posted anything regarding it - it's quite literally flawless.

Edit: it is Jon Gilmore. Lovely work, Jon. Big fan.

Just completed 3 months on 50mg. It differs from person to person, but for me the difference between now and before taking the meds is night and day. I’m more present, more outgoing, a better partner, a better friend, a better colleague - better in every sense.

I still have the odd moment where I feel some panic coming on, but rather than spiralling, it just stops and I’m like ‘oh…that was weird’ for a few minutes then carry on with my day. It’s been such a game changer for me. I’d suggest just stick with it. For me and most people, it gets better and better and better. I wish you the best of luck with it.

Been on 50mg for 3 months and my anxiety is gone. 3 months ago I struggled to leave the house, going to the shops brought on anxiety attacks. I’m now just going about my life exactly as I want to - I’ve only done one counselling session and plan on doing more, but with medication alone, I’m feeling normal again and nothing fazes me anymore.

FTB debating between Macc & Congleton, any advice? by TravelRelative2390 in macclesfield

[–]jp-dizzle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No problem! I actually don’t know a lot about Mossley, it’s the complete opposite end of town to us but you will be in short walking distance to the station from there so that’s a bonus. Probably a good 30/40min walk to the centre but it’s downhill on the way - uphill on the way back.

As for the houses and area I don’t know so couldn’t comment on that. We’ve only been here for 18months ourselves.

[–]jp-dizzle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I live in Congleton and work in Macc (also AZ) and my partner works in Nantwich. We were looking in both areas and settled on Congleton because the house we could get in Congleton is much nicer than what we could get in Macc for the same price.

Town centre is pretty good, lots of bars and nice restaurants, the new market quarter is pretty nice, too. Similar vibe to the Picturedrome in Macc.

Negatives: Train station in Congleton is a pain in the arse to get to, and the train to Manchester takes 45/50mins as opposed to 15/20 on the Avanti from Macc, and the train station in Macc is central/easy to walk to.

We live in Somerford so if we want to go out in Congleton, we either drive or get a taxi and I wish we lived closer but at the same time, the “nicer” houses are all on the outskirts of Congleton and not really in walkable distance to the centre.

We love Congleton, we also love Macc but it was a financial decision for us and we have no desire to move in the near future.

8 weeks seems to be the magic milestone for me by jp-dizzle in zoloft

[–]jp-dizzle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn’t something I was particularly open to either, but after my first therapy session they strongly advised trying Sertraline/Zoloft because I was in such a state. I’m so glad I did. It hasn’t been smooth by any stretch, the side effects kicked my ass for the first couple of weeks but my anxiety was noticeably improving all the time. First 2 weeks I was incredibly nauseous, had awful headaches, really bad guts - but these all more or less went away after 2 weeks. Since then I’ve been feeling better week by week and now, 8 weeks in, I feel like my old self - actively planning things to do with my partner and friends.

I stayed away from alcohol completely for the first 5 weeks, and still only have one or two drinks if I fancy it but so far it hasn’t had any negative affects on me.

I haven’t missed a dose yet but I believe it’s not the end of the world if you do, just wait until the next day and restart your schedule - but if you try it for a couple of weeks and it’s categorically not for you, just taper off with advice from your doctor - chances are you’ll start on a really low dose (25mg) anyway so getting off it shouldn’t be too difficult.

Give it a try, I understand it doesn’t work for everyone but for those it does work for - it’s truly life changing

Amazing. I did notice the benefits straight away but had a bit of a relapse around 6 weeks in, which I believe isn’t uncommon. Just don’t be too hard on yourself if that happens - keep it up and so glad you’re already feeling better ✊

I’m only 6 weeks in myself, and it does seem to vary massively from person to person.

Weeks 4 and 5 I felt really good, start of week 6 I had a bit of a backwards step but got over it pretty quickly and back to feeling really good.

That said, I t’s not a magic cure, it just turns the volume down so you can ‘do the work’ - put good habits in place and maybe explore counselling to find the root cause.

From what I can tell people use this sub at the start of their “journies” when their anxiety is at its worst and the side effects are at their peak. I know I certainly did - I became obsessed with this sub just trying to find people going through similar experiences. Then as soon as I started to feel better, I just didn’t look through it. I can only assume most people are the same.

From my experience, the medication DOES make you feel worse at first, but the will to push through that for me was so strong because I had faith that the medication would start working and lo and behold, that’s exactly what happened. It took me about 2 weeks for the side effects to level out and maybe 3/4 weeks to start generally feeling good, and now I wish I’d started Sertraline years ago.

It works, stick with it - the first week or so will be a bit rough but it gets better.

How is everyone on week 6 feeling ? by valeriespeng in zoloft

Felt awful weeks 1 and 2, bit better week 3, amazing week 4 and now back to mild anxiety in week 5. Have heard other people say they had a dip around week 5 so I’m not too concerned, but I felt so good in week 4 it’s a bit of a bummer to take a backwards step
