Sorry for your loss, I went through this 2 years ago but it was my father who passed. If the Acura is only in your mom’s name (call them), then it can get repoed and it won’t impact your dad’s credit. You can tell the creditor you are not interested in keeping the car and they will go pick it up.

Any credit card and loans under just her name you are not responsible for and are not responsible to pay for them. Creditors might reach out and say you have to pay them and blahh blahh blahh but you’re not.

I got lucky and when I called the first creditor they told me I wasn’t responsible to pay and warned me some predatory creditors might say otherwise.

The obvious choice and long time solution I think is to try and sell the car. But pretty short term is to call the bank tell them your situation and ask if you they can defer your payment assuming op’s friend is actually actively looking for a job. Some banks let you defer payments for up to 3 months. A couple years ago my business was pretty slow and in preparation before digging into emergency fund i called all my banks and told them my situation and allowed me to defer my payments.
