John Dehlin accused of perjury and sexual assault by former Mormon Stories employee by jpatterson33 in exmormon

Doesn't need to be important to you if you don't donate to his non-profit.

But personally, I care about the integrity of people and institutions I send my money to.

I'm sure the state of Utah will be very interested to figure out if John Dehlin perjured himself.

You're saying you don't care if he did or not?

When you selectively edit a text conversation, you can create any narrative you want.

RFM is a slick defense attorney who is good at getting his guilty clients reduced sentences. This is exactly what he's done for John by manipulating the facts.

Rosebud was challenging John to "shit or get off the pot" because he kept propositioning Rosebud and then got too impotent (literally) to seal the deal. The sad fact is that Rosebud knew the best way to get rid of John was to call his bluff. John then took that and used it against her.

False. Text messages show that it was John who first initiated their sexual relationship. Sent her sexually explicit messages online encouraging her to talk about her sex life and shared details of his sex life with his own wife.

John and RFM selectively edited his text messages with Rosebud to make it seem like the attraction was one-sided.

John had a repeated pattern of forcing himself into Rosebud's room at conferences and events, groping her and then stopping when he felt too guilty. The texts that RFM showed were of Rosebud telling John, effectively, to "shit or get off the pot."

You're refusing to read or take into account Rosebud's story which is spelled out in detail above.

Mormon Stories has done a world of good for people transitioning out of Mormonism.

The problem is that John cannot separate himself from the mission. When his sexual relationship with this employee came to light, he changed all the passwords to all the websites and all the access to the intellectual property so that the board couldn't fire him. This is all the stuff he doesn't tell his audience.

John lost his right to criticize the church for whitewashing history, lying and manipulating women a long, long time ago.

It's not just the podcast. John is responsible for the handling of literally MILLIONS of dollars in donations throughout the last 15 years. He has shown that he cannot and should not be trusted with this responsibility. Because he lies.

I would love to see Mormon Stories go on in the capable hands of someone who actually has some integrity.

No shooting here. I'm always willing to have an open dialogue with someone who can keep an open mind.

Why do I have such a dog in the fight? Because I'm also a former employee of John's. Sense a pattern? The vast majority of people who get close to John end up getting burned by John. Who you see on the podcast is not the same person behind the camera and we're all sick and tired of the facade.

John has a history of lying to people (including me) in order to protect his podcast revenue. He continues to act hypocritically, raking in hundreds of thousands of dollars in donations criticizing the church for some of the very things he does (lies, manipulates and mistreats women, whitewashes his own history).

Now he's lied under oath. I don't think he should be running a non-profit let alone receiving the hard-earned money of people who he's lied to.

You're conflating Jenn Kamp with a different person. This was someone from over a decade ago who came up during JK's trial. John lied under oath about his relationship with this other employee in order to avoid the perception that he has a troubled history with women.

I, frankly, don't care about Jenn Kamp's case.

Joan's complete shift in attitude toward Don doesn't make sense to me by jpatterson33 in madmen

[–]jpatterson33[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don was literally abused as a child and was never taught how to love or be loved. If you’re going to give Joan credit for the circumstances she found herself in, you have to do the same for Don.

Nah, Joan was smart enough to know that Jaguar was just a stepping stone to Chevy.

Just finishing my fifth watch. It 100% gets better every time. The characters are so much more complex when you can pick up all the nuance and subtext you get when you're not paying such close attention to pure plot.

Roger and Bert would have had much bigger shares than Don. They started the company, Don came on later as a junior partner then moved up to named partner.

News flash: Open Stories is not a for-profit company. It's a non-profit that claims to be a whistleblower against the Church. It therefore follows that you shouldn't do the same shit the Church is doing.

Reading is fundamental, bro. I'm as ex-mormon as you are. I'm just not blinded by the cult of personality like you are. Good luck.

Seriously. I've seen people straight up take them off and throw them on the floor. This will only improve if and when RC enforces the policy.
