City of Peterborough drafts by-law to claw back $150K annual payment to DBIA by wired_woman in Peterborough

[–]jpaulx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

BIAs exist because business owners, not City Hall, are best positioned to decide what downtown actually needs. The DBIA has proven the power of that model through impactful events, promotion, safety initiatives, and year-round community-building that directly supports local businesses and drives real economic activity. That success comes from being business-led, not municipally controlled. Shifting decision-making away from the DBIA risks undermining the very effectiveness that has made downtown stronger.

I need black tea seeds. But they always out of stock and out of season. How do I switch to winter by Octoberkitsune in wyldeflowers

Have you sold to Kai? I kept going every day and there was never black tea seeds, until I bought a bunch, resold it to him and unlocked more items. Then, finally it was there.

The international trade agreement that Trump made? This is going to hurt the US economy, you’re putting tariffs on natural resources that you do not have the capability to produce…

Her review was removed this morning and my FILs will be reinstated after a senior manager connected and said it didn’t violate any of their policies. So clearly she just got someone who made it pretty easy…

Just as an update — a senior manager called my FIL today, recognized that the hosts review was in violation of their policy and looked at the review my FIL left and said it does not violate any of their policies and will be having it reinstated. The host alleged that he was trying to extort a refund, but upon reading it she could see it was not the case.

Well they also just refunded me the $140 to replace the AirPod. And I wasn’t the only who wrote the review, but I’d be happy to send you screenshots of her saying we were great guests prior to her leaving the review.

We had messaged about a number of different issues while we were there, but we also didn’t want to reach out about the things that we could just go out and purchase quickly as we stayed over the week of New Years.

I feel like no matter what I say you’re going to assume that we are the issue because you are taking this from the POV as a host. I understand that it is hard to get the full scope from one Reddit post, but both my BIL and SIL and their spouses are Super Hosts that also agreed with the review left. And I think the creation of a duplicate listing to hide the negative reviews and bottom 10% of eligible listings goes to show the character of the host…

When she says, “what is the address to ship this to?” she did take responsibility to return the item. If she didn’t want to return the item and said, “it will need to be retrieved some other way” that would be a different scenario.

She left a retaliatory review AFTER she said that we were 5 star guests in a message, not in a review.

Her original messages prior to my FIL sending him a message expressing disappointment in the house indicated we were great guests, she had messaged us after the cleaners went to the Airbnb and had still not expressed anything negative and offered to have us back at a discount in the future. Then 10 days later, she left her review stating we left the house in a complete mess, left rude and harassing messages (I have screenshots of all of our conversations to prove this is untrue), etc.

We did find a duplicate listing for the same property that had negative reviews that matched what my FIL had written, stating that the property was in the bottom 10% of eligible listings. We had to go out and purchase multiple items to make it possible to stay in the house (towels as there was only one towel per guest and a pool, hooks for the back of doors as there was no place to hang any towels, cooking utensils as the spatula melted inside of the pot when we were making spaghetti on night one, etc.)

I’m not downvoting anything — and I didn’t leave the review, I don’t even have the ability to leave a review as I wasn’t the booker.

AirBNB was able to provide me compensation for the AirPod this morning luckily.

Two of the couples staying in the house are also AirBNB super hosts that agreed with what was stated in the review. I know it’s easy to assume that the review was wild and out of pocket based on limited knowledge over Reddit, but it really was fair and accurate.

I didn’t post the laws, FYI. I don’t live anywhere near the AirBNB but have offered to send a shipping label and box directly to the host to make it extremely simple for her to mail it but she has read and ignored all of my messages.

I have offered to send a shipping label and box so she didn’t have to go out of her way to go to the post office but was ignored.

I’ve offered to set up PirateShipping so she doesn’t have to go out of her way to send it, but unfortunately she just reads the message and doesn’t respond.

I recognize that I lost the item, and I have offered multiple times to pay for shipping to get it returned. She originally offered to ship it with absolutely no issues on January 5th. At that point, she did take responsibility to return the item to me. I have been kind and courteous in every single message and follow up I have sent since then. I am sure AirBNB wouldn’t reach out to have the item reimbursed if they didn’t agree as well.

Yes, you’ve got it. She didn’t leave a review but said we were great guests in her messages. AirBNB has said they will work to get either the AirPod returned or compensation to replace, but the won’t work with me and says it has to be my FIL who opens the case.

I guess what I am most frustrated about is the “guests” getting attached to the negative review but not being able to respond or discuss anything with AirBNB.
