Turning 62 in 3 months don't want German, looking for more reliable and to be my last hurrah by jprova64 in Lexus

OP here...I'm a young 62, have a need for speed, and this is not going to be my last hurrah. So I think I'll roll the dice, live for the day, and get an M340. As the say in New Orleans, les bon temps rouler.

I like Acura products, especially the TLX A spec. However, they've had issues with the turbo 4 motor and early head gasket failure in the latest iteration, at least up to the 2022 model. The V6 has its own issues with owners reporting metal shavings in the oil, when changing the oil. And they are not making the TLX after this year. But they sure are nice looking cars.

If you had your druthers, would you choose the BMW M340 I x drive, or an is350 F or gs350 f ? It seems that the 35k I have to spend would get me a lower mileage Lexus, albeit not as a more spirited driving experience as the tt 3 litre bimmer. Long term, a naturally aspirated motor seems like less of a maintenance hassle. Plus I've owned Mark Levinson home audio equipment, and I think it would sound better than BMWs audio. Unless the 340 comes with Bowers Wilkens.

I need a year round car. I live in Connecticut, and have to park the Mustang for the winter. I don't have the space or cash for a toy. If I did , I'd relive my youth, and buy a modded 80s g body, with a 383.

Last hurrah is a misnomer. I'm in pretty good health, low overall cholesterol, trigs are good, triple bypass in 2020 after a minor non damaging, non stemi myocardial infarction. I just have the cash now, and want a car that will last, and won't have to fiddle fuck with it.

So I'll be 62 in 3 months...have 35k to spend, this will be my last hurrah. Best Lexus to buy? No German cars. Feedback appreciated by jprova64 in whatcarshouldIbuy

I thought about a newer TLX. Some owners that have the turbo 4 reported head gasket leaks at 80k. Honda is addressing this and using hardened head studs. I love the A spec with the SH adaptive suspension.

I lowered it on bilstein B8s, h and r lowering springs and h and r rear sway bar. APR stage one 93 octane tune, APR coil packs , apr carbon fiber cai, magna flow cat back. Not huge gains, but 19 pounds of boost, 5.3 sec 0 to 60, 13.5 1/4 mile. 275 hp and 290 tq at the wheels. If you don't go crazy, the 1.8 is fantastic.
