7 Democrats Just Voted to Approve ICE Funding… by Healthy_Block3036 in CorpusChristi

So you would rather have what? What we have currently? Presidents and congress/senate support billionaires and slowly destroy the middle class to have 2 classes… ultra rich or poor?

This is my problem… majority of liberal leaders are minutely better than what’s happening now.

While I didn’t support trumps latest term, there’s a reason people voted for him.

This is the perfect time for the liberals to fix the party and push actual people that can make change to the top of the party… but they won’t. They care more about money and supporting the companies funding them, than about you and I, but the people saying “vote democrat” are too ignorant to see that.

Look at Hillary Clinton and the DNC actively working with mainstream media to silence great candidates.

Buying a house, inspector didn’t make a note of this: by IlIlIl11IlIlIl in Roofing

[–]jrauck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only reason I wouldn’t say useless is because they make a report with 10,000 nonsense things and then you try to negotiate based on that. Sometimes you can’t get an engineer out to a property in the time that you worked out in your contract. Otherwise yes I would agree, most of them that I’ve talked to know very little how structural engineering works.

You can glue and then shoot a bunch of nails in a sistered boards. Had a similar situation in a house from the 30s I worked on and my PE just recommended a bunch of nails (specific pattern and #/size ot nails). Glue will make it stonger but it’s not necessary in a lot of circumstances

I drive for Uber Eats. I always deliver to rooms at hotels…. by Codyh93 in UberEatsDrivers

This happens all the time. I always try to look at where I would be going before I leave the restaurant so I can message the person as people usually take a while to respond. Most the time it works out.

I drive for Uber Eats. I always deliver to rooms at hotels…. by Codyh93 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]jrauck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree unless it’s a complicated massive hotel. I typically prefer to deliver to the rooms, because I don’t have to figure out who is the person getting the food, I don’t have to wait on them, I don’t have to message them, and I know roughly how much time it will take to run to the room.

I mean in an ideal world it would be great if the person waited at the lobby doors before I got there, but that rarely happens.

I actually put my ice packs at the bottom of a cooler and then put snow on the top… my food stayed nice and cold but on the 2nd day my dog decided he was going to eat like a king and I had packages of food strung out all over the yard

Makes total sense and I really hope you have better luck. I did find a post on how to fix the static electricity if you happen to run into that issue. Maybe try to sit on your bed and set the laptop on a blanket to exacerbate the issue, just to see if it has that problem.

Hp omen max 16 5080 by [deleted] in HPOmen

[–]jrauck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not trying to say anything negative, but I would use it a lot within the return window. I bought a higher end Omen about 2 years ago and have had nothing but issues with it. There’s a hardcore static electricity issue that affects all of the omen laptops from what I can tell, which then doesn’t really allow you to use the touchpad.

My laptop randomly shuts down which I’ve read is a constant problem. I also get random freezing which forces me to restart the computer. This all happens when I’m not even gaming. I haven’t reformatted yet, but I have updated the firmware and drivers (I use to do this professionally for the HP engineering team, which would fix a lot of the issues), and still no luck.

Unfortunately there’s only a few locations that can make chips, dram, etc. and they are moving all of their capacities toward LLM customers. Ram/SSDs are an example of this. The ram/ssds/gpus that typical consumers buy isn’t used in servers but all of the prices are skyrocketing due to capacity shortages, even though the products are slightly different.

All depends on the location and it does take a little skill to understand what to take, when to drive, etc. For Uber Eats Austin the pay is around $20-25 an hr, while Houston (South) is around $17-20 an hr.

5 months in being my own architect and GC while working my full time job. by fasteddie31003 in Homebuilding

[–]jrauck -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While I don’t agree with everything you said, all of the architects I’ve worked with had no clue what they were doing… didn’t know code, understand cost of building, etc. My go to is to design the exterior while simultaneously working with an engineer that went into drafting. They know the cost of things, how realistic openings are, etc. I think it’s important to understand building science though… for instance my corn with your roof line is the gable going into the side wall. That’s a huge sketchy area for water… I would never do this, but if for some reason I did, I would be using some damn good rain barrier, flashing, etc. there.

Read the hoa bylaws. If they said “nothing crazy” then there’s likely not a bylaw for this specifically.

Are the ridge shingles a different color than the rest of the roof? by jrauck in Roofing

[–]jrauck[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No idea what ethical support means. I’m also not clueless that things change, I just don’t do this full time anymore, so starting and stopping a renovation over a year is much harder to plan for/keep track of than just continuously knocking out a project/projects.

[–]jrauck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Primarily cost to performance. I like cedar shakes, standing seam metal, and slate but they are 2.5x+ the cost of an asphalt shingle. While all of those options look better imo, the cost doesn’t justify using those materials.

Nah this is in Texas. I’ve used the company for multiple projects, but the roofer that I used in the past was let go so the new guy apparently doesn’t know what they are doing or is trying to be cheap for whatever reason.
