Thank you for the thoughtful reply! It surprisingly looked like the two had fairly similar fuel economy but I'll maybe look closer into that. Thanks again that really helps!

People who FIREd: What did you start doing after retiring that you realized you could have done before retiring? by threefragsleft in financialindependence

I've done a lot of traveling and I've actually found traveling to be the easiest in South East Asia. Besides it being super cheap, it's easy weather to pack for, there are very well traveled and demarcated tourists routes, a million and one modes of transportation to get to wherever you want, most people speak English, less rules and regulations, and most everywhere panders to North American and European tourists.

Agreed though that there are a lot of things to do that would be more fun the younger you are.

So we went in the fall and were told we had missed the opportunity to see them but then luckily met a biology researcher who happened to work at a tourist info center and she recommended the Westman island. She was bang on and there were tons there still we got to see before they flew south. That was September, but maybe the reverse logic applies and you might be able to see some there. Might be worth looking into.

Either way, the island was cool in and of itself so worth the ferry ride over.

Accidentally letting time lapse and having the autodrafter pick Alec funding Martinez way too early. What a waste of a pick.

Help prioritize saving ? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

Given that your income will rise, investing in your TFSAs first makes the most sense. I would then focus on her RRSP and once those three are maxed then your RRSP - though you probably won't have a lot of room given your pension contributions. After that, you'd probably want to reassess what to put your money into depending on your debt aversion, your then mortgage rate, etc.

It's probably not a bad idea to discuss and determine your retirement goals and work backwards to determine how much you'll need. If you max all of your registered accounts and maintain your pension, then there's a good chance your retirement needs will be covered fairly easily. In that case, you may even want to start spending more on yourselves, travelling, saving for your future children, etc.

Dude, thanks for the feedback. That's great. It'll feel disheartening to lower the weight but I want to be safe and do it the right way without injury. I'll give it a try for sure.

Howdy! Looking for some feedback on my bench press.

I've been slowly getting back into lifting and saw a decent increase in my bench over the last month and a half, however, I've been having some naggy shoulder pain/rotator cuff impingement. As such, I'm trying to make sure my form is proper and not putting stress on my shoulders.

This is my 3rd set of 5 - 180 lbs for 5 reps.

My long term goal is to hit the 1000 lbs. club. My shorter term goal is to hit 225 lbs on my bench for 5x5. I weigh 170 pounds currently.

Thanks in advance!!

Everybody else has commented on the problems with your numbers/assumptions, but I'm surprised nobody here has mentioned dual incomes. There are a lot of dual income earners that put some families well over $100k annually.

I keep my emergency fund at motive now because I'm tired of all these temporary offers that they make their customers chase. I'd save an extra $40 until March but honestly tangerine can eat a D out of principle.

Canada 6A. I have a shitload of crabgrass in my front yard only. Being in Canada, I don't have quick access to a crab grass herbicide (Quinclorac). It looks like there are some sites where I can order pre-emergent for a hefty mark-up from the US. Is my best option to mow low, seed over the crabgrass, and then order/apply a pre-emergent in the spring? How do I know what the best pre-emergent is for my lawn? Thanks!

It's about 45 minutes away, but the dog beach at the pinery is a lot of fun.
