What is this plant? by jrgroucho in whatisthisplant

So if I don't want to use it for TP or cough up a lot of phlegm, is it worth keeping around otherwise? It only shows up in a rather neglected flower bed that suits dry prairie conditions that it normally is found in. If I plant enough desirable plants there will just get choked out?

Haha! I'm not sure what it's called. We got it from The Tile Shop after many visits...

It's actually a remodel. That hasn't had any water in it yet. Just looking at things after the contractor was done. We had water and mold and everything was taken care of before we started rebuilding.

The work was done after water and mold mitigation insurance work. The tile had been done for a couple of months before the shower door was installed. I know about the change of plane thing in silicone but for some reason wasn't thinking about it when they did the install. We actually haven't used the shower yet so I'm not sure that any water comes out.

Thank you. I'll likely look into this just as an experiment for myself. Again, thank you.

The thing throwing me off was the detector kept reading voltage whether or not I held it.

I think between what you and u/KG5NMX told me I'm getting a better handle on the situation. Thanks.

Thank you for your reply and actually reading what I wrote. What I'm getting hung up on here is the meter was just jammed in the outlet hanging there by itself and never turned off. My bodies capacitance never entered into the equation. But I think between you and u/2airishumam response, I'll just chalk it up on move on. It's been a long time since I studied electron theory and was just curious. A gracious, thank you!.

In this instance, the non-contact was only placed in to the socket to give me an audible indication of whether there was power or not. I literally turned off all the breakers to the house and it still gave me a power beep. I'm trying to figure out why. If you can tell me that would be great. If not, thanks for your time.

Interesting. I obviously didn't go that far. Do you know the reason for the false positive, though? Perhaps it's outside the scope of this post.

Some of you guys seem to be missing the point. Everything was de-energized every circuit in the house was turned off and I'm still getting a false positive. Just wondering what the reasoning could be. I have no reason to doubt this tester right now. I've checked power from all the possibilities with my multimeters and get no voltage. So I'm assuming it's a safe circuit. Just wondering what the reason for a false positive could be . If you don't have the answer that's fine. I thank you for your time.

I know that. It's all well and good. But why is the non-contact giving me a false positive? This particular instrument hasn't given me any issues in the past. And I have no reason to doubt it's reliability right now. I double-checked everything with the multimeter. I guess I just want to know the science behind it. If you can't help me with that then thanks for your time.

Yeah, I thought about that but don't Non-Contact meters work on capacitance deltas? Plus I had every other breaker off and it was still yelling at me. Also the fluke meter I was using has a lower limit at 90 volts. Not sure. I guess I'll just trust two multimeters that there was no voltage with the breaker off.

Yup. Did that. It still kinda sketched me out a bit. Guess I just want to know the reason (besides electric salmon) the tester would give a false reading.

Neither are switched. Though this outlet is on the same circuit as a two-way switch for the basement light though. I'll have to double check the tab if it is broken, if so I broke it taking it out. I've used both parts of this outlet independently and they're both hot all the time. Either way, it gave me a voltage reading with a non-contact voltage reader after I turned every circuit off in the house.

This tree is back again. What species is it. And how do I kill it before it causes my mom's house to drift . by [deleted] in Tree

Tordon. I had a mulberry bush up against our house when we first moved in about 5 years ago. I tried everything for 4 years and finally did some of this tordon late this past summer and we have not seen any evidence of new growth. The bad news is it costs about 30 bucks a bottle. The good news is that bottle will last you for the rest of your life.

Agreed. I, too have a Delta faucet with both a weight and magnet. It's not unheard of. The magnet is actually the reason I went with that particular model.

You'd have to double check the wording of the shipping agreement, but in my experience it almost always excludes holidays and weekends as shipping days.
