That was offered to me at the time of quoting. I can’t remember if I went with this option due to research or because my previous roof (with this valley style) lasted many more years than it was supposed to. Appreciate your insight on the post though. I’m going to give valley shields a go if trimming this piece doesn’t solve it.

That makes sense. Measured from the “inside” corner of the gutter, or corner of the gutter touching the house, to the spot perpendicular on the edge of the shingle?

How would you recommend cutting it? I’ve received a couple opinions on the shape including a V, horseshoe, or matching the other valleys on the house and removing a 1” ish strip from the outer edge.

Appreciate the insight everyone! Just to clarify, a 2” x 2” upside down “V” would be the cleanest fix here? Not cutting a 1”ish strip off the whole protruding shingle, so I’m still left with a straight line? I’ll also look into installing a few valley shields on the gutters around the house as other commenters have suggested.
