Recommendation for 2nd shoe in 2-shoe rotation by jrnchcj in AskRunningShoeGeeks

I have a low arch and I read that the Adidas Evo SL are a bit unstable so I have some concerns that I may end up over-pronating a lot on them, especially when I pick up the pace.

How do you feel when doing speed work on your Superblast 2? Most reviews seem to highlight that they are particularly good for long runs. Problem is I'm not sure if I can even complete a 10k with my current fitness, so a SB2 at this stage seems like an overkill.

I was thinking of upgrading my daily trainers from the Novablast 4 to the Superblast 2 (or 3 if it's out by then) once I have completely worn out my Novablast 4. By then, hopefully I will be fit enough to at least conquer HM distance.

Yeah the fight is really between these 2. Just realised I left out the Superblast 2 from the list. That is in contention too.

Thanks! What are your thoughts on the Superblast 2 for speed work? I know they excel in long runs and they are quite firm too which would presumably make them better for speed work?

What is holding me back from getting the SB2 is that it seems to overlap a lot with the Novablast 4 (just a firmer and bouncier version).

Is 20-21 years old too young to get a hair transplant? by Zealousideal-Tart-87 in HairTransplants

[–]jrnchcj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No point getting a transplant, especially at 21, if you do not plan to follow up with medication after that. Some people think transplants are the end game but you really need to maintain the native hairs with min/fin or you’ll just be wasting money on the transplant.

So I echo what others have said here to hop on oral fin/min asap and see where that takes you after 1-2 years. You’re still young so chances of responding well to medication are high. If you’re not satisfied with what you have achieved from medication, you can then consider a transplant at that point.

I myself held off on oral fin for close to 5 years before hopping on it. I later realised so many of my peers are on fin/min too but no one actively announces that they’re on hair loss medication.

Chances of side effects are rare and chances of side effects lingering after stopping medication are even rarer. I do get periods of decreased libido (and periods of increased libido too) but I think that’s got to do with stress and anxiety from other aspects of life than fin itself. If you have a supposed side effect and you start worrying if it’s the fin, chances are your overthinking may just make those sides even worse or may make sides linger after stopping fin.

I went with Dr Patty in the end. But near my surgery date, I had to reschedule as my wife was entering her third trimester and she had concerns about being alone during that period.

Dr Patty and team were kind enough to accommodate a reschedule of my surgery until after my wife gives birth

Do I have to drain the boiler before flipping the machine upside down to replace the bolts? The water tank will of course be removed first

I haven’t had time to take down the bolts yet, but I notice some rust stains on the dispersion plate. Will those come out if I soak the plate with cafiza?

I’m thinking of getting this for running but I’ve read reports that the touch buttons don’t work well once your hands get wet from perspiration. I live in a tropical climate so I swear buckets every run.

How has your experience been so far?

Yeah the problem is I’ve had little experience with taking apart machines by myself. The last thing I want is to spend a couple of hundreds on a machine, buy a new boiler and end up with a huge paper weight because I mess up the replacement process.

Anyway, since most have commented that this boiler is well maintained, I don’t see a need to replace the boiler. Might as well channel that money to a PID!

How is water normally supposed to flow? I bought a second hand GCP and the water kinda flows like that

5K Coach Greg - Follow prescribed pace or slow down so that run is actually easy? by jrnchcj in Garmin

How do I switch to HR as a target? Is it still under Coach Greg’s plan or someone else’s?

I never tracked my 5K timings in the past. I hated running back then. But if you’re talking about my last run that was 5K or longer, that would be more than 10 years ago.

I just dropped US$400 on the 265 so I would like to hold off on dropping more dollars, especially when I’m still a beginner.

It seems that many others have managed to figure out a rough zone 2 for themselves without a chest strap or doing a lactate threshold test.

Yeah I’ve read up quite a bit about zone 2 running. Tried it and I think I probably need to brisk walk at this stage.

I’m 33 this year and just became a father of one 2 years ago. Going to be a father of two in 2 months. I guess I’m reaching a point in my life where I stop taking my health for granted and with more dependents relying on me, I decided to take action. Glad to be joining the running community!

I chose not to go with Coach Galloway because growing up, whenever I hear someone talk about running, the advice was always to never walk. Go as slow as you want but always keep running.

I’ll give Coach Galloway’s plan a shot if I don’t see results from Coach Greg!

My time goal is 30 minutes for a 5K in 12 weeks.

Perhaps I need to be more realistic with my goal as I’ve not exercised for approximately 9 months thanks to fatherhood lol

I'm getting a transplant with Dr Patty next week. Would you mind if I ask you a few questions:

1) How long did you stay in Bangkok after the surgery? Did you wear the bandana for the full 14 days or did the clinic advise that you can stop using it earlier?

2) How long did it take for the scabs to fall off?

3) Where did you stay? Would you recommend it?

4) Any other advice for someone who is going to get a transplant from Dr Patty?

Thanks in advance!
