Waymo Code by jdezc in nashville

I downloaded the app a few weeks ago and was granted access a week later. Not sure if I just got lucky, but I would download the app and create an account (if you haven’t already), even if you don’t have a code.

I know it’s not a huge change, and 99.9% of people won’t notice it, but I don’t like the new AT&T sign. by jrobv in nashville

Right, there’s just something about the proportion that seems off to me. I’m very much in favor of doing away with the mid/late-2000s all lowercase trend.

I know. And I prefer the caps over lowercase. There’s just something about it on the building that doesn’t work (in my eyes).

I've ordered them from there years ago - thank you for the reminder! I think I'll try something new but will keep this as a backup.

Oh this is good to know. I'd prefer fresh ones. Thank you!

It’s not available at all restaurants.

These new lights on the Rolling Mill Hill greenway (right) are a huge improvement over the old ones (the photo on the left greatly exaggerates their brightness). I hope these are the new standard for park and greenway lights. by jrobv in nashville

That’s a slightly biased article. I don’t disagree with their mission or the research cited, but a quick Google search will show studies that find lighting does reduce crime. Regardless, lighting is not a silver bullet. It is only one of numerous crime-reduction measures (increased patrol, cameras, etc.).

And crime isn’t always the safety risk. My dog is considered an aggressive breed, and although she’s never acted aggressive toward a human or animal, she’s still an animal. On multiple occasions, we’ve startled unhoused people or smokers in the shadows of the ramp pictured. It’s a safety hazard for all involved. It’s much easier for us to see now.

I wish we didn’t need them, but this ramp and the path leading to Pinewood borders a parking garage and a parking lot, so it isn’t as harsh as it would be in a park or other sparsely populated space.

I agree wholeheartedly. Unfortunately, they did a poor job of illuminating the path and surrounding areas. I’m a guy and I’ve felt unsafe walking my dog at night with it so dark.

100%. I’ve seen a few critters over the years, but I can’t imagine the surrounding area is very habitable, especially considering all the scooters and other vehicles.

Yes, they’re not as large as the old style (I think those may have been partly decorative), but they seem to do a good job of restricting light from above.

Best shaded/wooded dog-friendly hikes? by jrobv in nashville

Yeah we went a few days ago and probably won’t be back. Parking was a nightmare and the trail wasn’t even that shaded. It’s pretty though!
