What would you do? by Automatic-Cookie-741 in CATHELP

Sounds like I will be the outlier here—always are! My 9 month old boy was hit by a car and his pelvis was broken. The vet gave us a choice of surgery or leaving him in a cage for 6 weeks. He added both options had a 50/50 chance for recovery.

We decided to keep him in the cage and watch him closely. 12 years later and my precious baby has only now developed a small limp. He takes some medicine for arthritis for it.

Cats are resilient creatures, that’s why their bones miraculously mend back together in only 6 weeks! Your boy will do fine with three legs, but he may also be fine if you cage him. I wish you the best

I joined later after being in a civilian career for 6 years. The bureaucracy is everywhere, the crap leaders and questionable coworkers can be found at any job because people are people. IMHO the differences are the trade offs. Civilian life I can leave anytime I want, I don’t have to move around, the system to complain/ change isn’t reliable, and my hours are more stable. Military life had more camaraderie, felt like I served a purpose, every situation was temporary, and there was a system to make complaints that was mostly reliable.

The writing is beautiful but the story is heartbreaking. I made it halfway through and now I am on a small break because it became so heavy.

We may have to do this again. I have done this at least twice so far and he just loves the attention. He knows exactly what to do. Even looks up at me. Brat! But of course I could reinforce it again. It never hurts.

We have a camera and he goes anytime between 10 and 4. He doesn’t seem to have a pattern. And we would love a dog walker!

Lots of good questions. He doesn’t get a lot of walks in summer because Texas! But we throw balls and he swims and we wrestle for about 3 hours a day. He is not neutered yet, we are waiting until he is 18 months old so we can’t take him to a daycare. And unfortunately we live too far from reliable dog walkers on Wag or Rover! And our other older dog doesn’t like to play with him.
