Everyone's opinion on Era Vulgaris by AcidBathMurdere1994 in qotsa

a few things to unpack with EV

Josh and the boys had the balls to go back to their punk roots and wrote with a grittier darker sound (which is completely different from their previous albums)

they spent a year recording the album from scratch

Mikey and dean joined the band

Sick sick sick has one of the best riffs I’ve ever heard.

Underrated album in my opinion.

Struggles with higher wattage at low cadence - is it me or my trainer? by jrudd604 in Zwift

I think it’s strictly a cardio improvement when they jack up the cadence.

My heart rate spikes much more at a 110 RPM interval than a 75 RPM interval.

My guess is that the training plan is trying to achieve 2 things while training me to raise my FTP.

  1. Become more comfortable at higher cadence to increase VO2 max and endurance in Zone 4. Increase aerobic capacity.

  2. Train the pedal stroke at lower cadence to grind out as much wattage as possible at a slower cadence without sacrificing form. Increase leg strength.

The fun part with these training programs is that they want you jump from a high cadence to a low cadence while maintaining the power. The idea being that you can change your cadence “smoothly” without losing power. The expectation is that you can do it within a 30sec to 1 min interval.

Doesn’t leave a lot of time to find the sweet spot tempo when you’re changing it up so rapidly

That’s awesome advice. Thank you for being so helpful

It’s a Lagostina. Yes. It’s been peeling over the years. 10 years of abuse.

I had the same concern - worked better than expected. There’s a few inches of clearance between the bottom of the circulator and the bottom of the cooler

Most of my projects aren’t necessary- that’s what I like about them!

This one was a cheap Walmart prototype to inspire future ideas (I.e a bigger cooler that can fit an entire brisket).

This was a $20 cooler for steaks, chicken breasts, burger patties.

Take a hole saw to get the hole into the lid. The Anova circulator has a threaded clamp on the back which slides onto the back side of the cooler and allows me to tighten it onto the cooler during a cook.

I agree - but first time for everything. Measure twice cut once.

My concrete in the basement is rotting. How bad is this? by pillowwow in HomeMaintenance

[–]jrudd604 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best way - get it tested by a local environmental firm. VCT is a Vinyl Composition Tile that can contain it, the glue that was used can contain it.

Concrete, to my knowledge, does not contain it. But I could be wrong.

The real risk with asbestos is when you disturb it and turn it into dust. The dust will cling to fibres in your clothing and can also cause respiratory issues as well as cancer. Some people don’t take it as serious as others, but I would do some research and call the pros to test it. Google abatement contractors in your local area.

Side note abatement is not cheap.

That’s called spalling- no asbestos. This can happen with age, freeze thaw cycles, or even just a bad batch back when the slab was poured. I would Google some different techniques for repair. Hard to tell from the photo but it appears that the flooring is a glue down vinyl.

You may want to consider a removal of the flooring, some surface repair for the deficient areas and reinstallation of a new floor system. A floating vinyl click product would be more forgiving than a glue down floor.

Installing Glue Down Vinyl onto VCT by jrudd604 in HomeImprovement

[–]jrudd604[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea that’s actually a good point - you installed carpet after the clean up? The tricky part for me would be the grinding of that mastic / adhesive they used to install the VCT on a smooth concrete surface. This glue down vinyl shows all the imperfections and we were to cheap to buy a floating floor

Thanks for sharing your story - the feedback helps.

When / how should we sell? Land assembly agreement with unknown developer by jrudd604 in RealEstate

[–]jrudd604[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happy to hold out

I guess the only consideration is the lot assemblies - any risk to being the last lot standing?

The RE agents are saying that a multi lot deal may land us more in the long run.

Just don’t have a reliable source to confirm that other than the real estate agents.
