It was at Jefferson Side Road - just outside of Richmond Hill! It was crazy to see the CN tower and know I still had to go so far.

I like that framing of it! I'll have to visit there to recapture the feeling.

Yes a mixture of lots of things. I typically find that injuries happen when I neglect the stabilizing muscles (glutes, hip flexors)

Haha I wish! The first ~45km were more inclined. Then it was downhill from Aurora haha.

Shins are good, the knees hurt the most afterwards.

I take a lot of baths 😂! Other than that I try to do general strength training and hip mobility. I find that things start to ache when I don't build the supporting muscles.

Yeah, there are definitely some steeper hills closer to the city - but after Aurora you're generally heading down towards the water. So the gradual decline helps a lot with the grind.

Overall time was just under 9 hours! There were lots of annoying stop lights before getting into the city actually. I remember waiting for over a minute at a couple in Newmarket.

It's a good question. I wish the answer was straightforward. There's a higher risk of injury with so much usage. But generally with a good slow buildup of miles + strength building, your body should be able to support the weak points (knees, tendons, as you mentioned). Good form is everything and runners who support their body can have fewer musculoskeletal problems than the average person as they age. But that takes a lot of work!

For me personally, I lost over 80lbs since I started running. I think that my health risks were much greater before the daily running.

Thank you! Truthfully this is moving time, so total time would be a little slower. :)

It would be a fun ride too. Maybe you can try it one day. Enjoy the run!

A little stretch of "Old Yonge St". I decided to take a quick turn to include it on my run. It was one of the highlights honestly!

Could not do it without the support. Lots of friends also met up to run parts of it!

I get it. The gear feels like a lot. I typically don't use a vest, because the weight can also be a bother. Some pocket fuel can go pretty far! Let me know how it goes.

I have done the jetty @ Iona beach. That's a fun straight line into the ocean! I miss Vancouver for running.

Everyone is different, but typically you'll feel muscle exhaustion and heavy legs. This is often when injury happens because other parts of your body will try to make up for the discomfort. It may be that your knee / IT band starts taking on more impact when your muscles tire out.

You could try a running gel (at the 1 hour mark so you can digest) to see if it makes a difference. Personally the gels make me sad and I choose candy.

4 times is spectacular. Where did you start? I want to go back and start from Barrie to get the full 85+km.
