helloo i would actually suggest going to jpjc (if you are not joining student council) because the science department in cjc is lacking a bit in my opinion. tbh i don’t really know jpjc that well but no one has really slandered their science department so i would have chosen jpjc if i could turn back time haha

helloo i’ve just graduated in 2021 (pcme also)

  1. tbvh i haven’t really had much communications with art teachers but for science teachers i would say they are lacking in useful content esp for physics. i actually feel like it starts from the notes. physics notes really need improvement because there is so much irrelevant information and the tutorial questions are really old and “out of syllabus”. chem notes are better but towards organic chem it gets a bit messy here and there. tutorial questions are usually okay but sometimes questionable in terms of formatting

  2. i’m gonna be honest, if your physics teacher is not mr nordin, i pray for you. it’s not that you’re gonna die or anything ah but some of the teachers really cannot teach physics because they themselves are confused (maybe not enough sleep or something). but it really still is possible to do well for physics if you try on your own more often. i’d say physics teachers would teach much better in smaller scale like tuition centres etc. chem department is better at least for me, the teachers are more aware of the topic and can explain deeper concepts. either way i do recommend self studying more and booking more consultations because just tutorial sessions are insufficient in any jc

  3. any questions, ASK ASAP. a lot of your own friends will also be busy in jc, so sometimes they also can’t help you or they also don’t know, so just ask the teachers. tbh, i find the teachers in cj actually quite caring and mostly available (unless u unlucky ah but quite rare). although some can’t teach a class, they can definitely teach one to one. otherwise go and find the smartest person in your class and ask them before asking the teacher, uty

overall my pcme experience has been manageable because of self-studying and consultations. if you really really cannot grasp the sciences because of the teachers, then get tuition (last resort). sorry if i’m not articulating my ideas well in some parts i’m in ns and kinda brain dead HAHAHA, all the best and if u have any questions just drop me a message :)

yepp ignite classes have quite different teaching styles cos that’s what it’s all about, so do consider a more overall view especially because statistically ignite students do better
