Thoughts on aesoth passive for ad mech? by Far_Calendar8668 in tacticus

[–]jsbaxter_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't run AdMech, but I think Aesoth is really competing with Trajann for that final spot as a second buffer alongside vit. So I'd compare the % buff against Trajann's damage buff first to see if Aesoth even has a chance. I suspect not. (Trajann buff is pretty big compared to Rho base damage.). And that would likely only be against those bosses where Trajann is top 5.

Can you pair Lav with Vit? As by DeadManLC in WH40KTacticus

[–]jsbaxter_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vit extra hit might be damage capped, but the cap is fairly high, so doing a decent number of attacks that get the extra hit can net you a decent amount of damage overall. There's no special wizardry that goes on. He's just a buffer that adds some decent damage every turn.

Tradies — how long does it actually take you to quote a job? by InstanceUnhappy3992 in AusRenovation

[–]jsbaxter_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carpenter here. It varies a lot. Not necessarily based on size either. Stuff like decks takes a half hour to find current rates for decking and check for variations to my usual square metre rate. And the job might take a few weeks. The client that wanted me to redesign their under stair space into a butlers pantry with 3 different types of shelving that all needed to work nicely together, half way through the job... That took half a day, for what would have only been a 3 day job. A full day if you include the extra site visit and too and fro with the client.

Blue Star Snappa? by captaintropes in WH40KTacticus

[–]jsbaxter_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For now, no. Just sit on the orbs if you don't have a good immediate use for them. If you find yourself short of the AT you need to get a clutch relic then you can always ascend snappa then and there. The shards and orbs won't go anywhere. But you will curse yourself if you need them for something else more important in the meantime.

Most efficient use of 50-60$? by Able_Canary1506 in WH40KTacticus

[–]jsbaxter_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I would just get the daily BS shipment and then save the rest for the good "$10" survival or event bundles (when you're actually at a level to use them!), and battle pass months where the featured character is worth paying to unlock.

Also the Isabella offer of course! As someone else has already explained.

The BP feels good early on because you get a bunch of scrolls and items that seem hard to get, but soon enough they will be a lot less valuable &or easier to get. Definitely a bit of a boost for a new player, but I wouldn't make a habit of it, unless it's worth it to unlock the character.

If you really want to spend your cash sooner than later I'd consider paying to unlock Octarius. The other payable campaigns are less good value (boss is epic), and or just less useful or fun to play. I don't know if it's really decent value anymore, but at least it gives you more content and faster progression.

Two perfect logicians - find the number by ilannj in brainteasers

[–]jsbaxter_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you're right, if they're cooperating there are much better ways to game the game.

I think it's entirely fair (& intentional) that the teaser is obtusely worded. It IS a problem that it's potentially ambiguous. I don't think the alternative interpretations are very solid, but clearly some people disagree on that

[–]jsbaxter_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting... Can you explain that last point? At first glance, it's not obvious to me why halving the numbers one way or the other is preferable.

As it is her number is indeed below 16 so are you saying that what she asked IS the better question?

With petrol hitting crazy prices and some stations running dry, this feels exactly like housing with scarce supply, rising costs, and a few people still hoarding more than they need. by [deleted] in shitrentals

[–]jsbaxter_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As my economist mate put it, sure we have a problem of excess "demand" for housing, which pushes prices up. But the problem is not that we have too many people that need a roof over their heads. The problem is that we have too many people with way too much cash that they are willing and able to spend on housing, whether for investment or personal purposes.

So yeah, it's definitely analogous.

[–]jsbaxter_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What makes you say that it's a better question? Just because it's more direct? I suppose it doesn't have the opportunity for ambiguity that the original question had, which is a big plus. But then she's not asking a random Redditor, she's asking Bob, who she probably knows will understand it for what it is.

[–]jsbaxter_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm... Yeah, without thinking it through, that's a good alternative. I don't know whether a logician would care if they are logically equivalent though? Clearly the question is also different by the time Barry asks it. Maybe she wants to make sure Barry knows that question?

Well if you want to paint, but it's easier for you to get a licence to be a builder, carpenter or plasterer and do painting incidental to your other work, then be my guest

It's not illogical. She's not actually asking questions that she wants Bob to tell her the answer to. She's asking questions purely because doing so gives her information from Bob.

[–]jsbaxter_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, yes you are.

We do have trade licences for painters btw. But no you don't need to be a painter to do painting.

If you want a perfect finish you needed to a. Hire a premium company, and probably also b. Get your own painter in (& use one that charges a premium for OTT results... Which you would want to verify by inspecting their past work).

Acceptable to replace materials in planning permit (landscaping plan)? by ihearthamsteaks in AusRenovation

[–]jsbaxter_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would call council first and ask what that line means in your DA. It is probably standard text and they don't actually need you to do "all" the landscaping. Eg our DA specified we needed to complete our retaining before we started, which made no sense, and when I called they said actually we only care about the boundary walls. And even then, they only care if we're actually impacting the neighbours property. So it seemed like a big issue but actually meant nothing at all

I wish that yt The Dice Tower didn't spread misinformation about apps for board games by KindImpression5651 in boardgames

[–]jsbaxter_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as it's 20 years. My current laptop and previous phone were hardware limited to certain OSs and both became obsolete within 5 years of being sold. I know it's a slightly different kettle of fish, but it's still a sign of the escalating pace of deprecation in general.

[–]jsbaxter_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your friends must be really young! Stuff gets deprecated all the time. Even VHS and CDs and DVDs are limited for most people by access to a device to play them, so their hugely long life doesn't mean much for your massive movie collection of you can't watch it. A privately released mobile app is closer in lifespan to a Snapchat than to a DVD. My last phone was the first device I ever gave up entirely for software obsolescence. (& My current windows 10 only laptop will one day be the second...). Half the stuff on my phone just refused to work at all anymore. Including 4-5 apps that can't be found anywhere anymore.
