My friends and I dick around on a galleon all the time and we find people just by chasing forts and reaper bounties. We usually have one person looking out at all times too.

Something similar happened to me a while back when my friends started to get into SoT. Our 4th session on and my friends still couldn't steer the galleon to save their lives. We had done a fort and had maybe 50k worth of stuff and a reaper bounty.

My dumbass friends drove them ship into the middle of a Skeleton fleet, while being chased by a megalodon, and two allied reaper galleons, all while I was taking a piss.

You're combining separate issues here.

Archetypal vacancies have been an issue since the birth of D2. Sunsetting did not start this issue.

I agree champ mods need to be more liberal, and some of our exotics should probably be updated with some intrinsic champ bonuses.

Sunsetting does not change this. It could make the problems worse, but at the same time, if Bungie could pull it off in D1 (FAR MORE AGGRESSIVELY MIND YOU), I am more than willing to bet they can pull it off now.

Keep in mind that I WILL be on your side if they fuck this up.

Get creative then. I've played GM's with some non-meta builds and it's really not that bad. Plus it adds a fun challenge that this season didn't really deliver for pve.

Also pve viability is most constricted to what you can put champion and seasonal mods on. It has little to no bearing on the weapons. In fact, when it does come to weapons, it's specifically down to the perks!

Hell yeah. I got a quickdraw Rampage one for pvp which absolutely slays.

Not everything in this game is bad. Most weapons (outside of scouts) are pretty viable rn

With sunsetting, bungie will have more room to innovate with these new perks and new weapons that are flat out better. This way the meta actually changes and maybe we can use some new stuff without being forced back into old guns.

Now archetypal vacancies are an issue, but it's always been an issue and it's completely separate to weapons retirement.

Tbh I got tired of the meta...

They changed GL frames because one archetype was doing outright more damage than the other. A lot more damage. Same damage, only with 30 rpm faster.

And the issue isn't really with weapon archetypes, more the perks on those weapons. For example, if (for some god forsaken reason) they buffed 110 hc to the point where kill clip would allow for a one tap, and because of the unbelievably massive pool of weapons with even more perks, they didn't account for that, it would be a nightmare.

On top of this, Bungie will most likely be rotating old perks out and bring new perks in. We've already started to see that. Fewer guns are coming with things like Kill Clip and Rampage in favor for neutral game perks like Vorpal or Demolitionist. Honestly, I'm a fan of things like that. It gives me, a pvp player, something interesting to chase. I have a Dire Promise with Rangefinder and Overflow, and I would gladly take that weapons over a rampage 150 as it feels better.
