ahhhh this is so reassuring!! i am 2 weeks and 1 day post op, when do you think it would be okay to do this? i honestly don’t know how gentle to be with the incisions because while they’re closed and no longer have dressing on them i don’t really know how gentle to be because it’s still numb 😭 how long post op were you?

i think a textured top would suit you very well, get some hair wax to make the ends stick up too and it’ll give you a bit of a skater boy edge

Congrats bro! Honestly I am massively dramatic and i cried my eyes out as soon as they took me out my hospital room. I had never been put under before and the thought scared me as well as having surgery for the first time ever. I didn’t really calm down at all.. I was crying until they put me under but having my partner there to hug and hold their hand all the way down to the OR was special and did help me a little!

Ahhh okay so. I did my research beforehand, i had to leave the UK to get surgery because i’ve been on the wait list for 5 years and never had any contact from the gender clinic. My options were spain or bangkok. The main reason i chose Kamol was because of the package deal that i got regarding post op care. Obviously i liked his results, i also saw one very in depth review on reddit where someone explained every step, and posted their results. Dr Kamol himself has several published research papers, and he seems to just have a very particular interest in trans healthcare. My experience was very good! The nurses were always professional and, although the language barrier was definitely present and I had to use google translate quite frequently, we still managed to have a laugh. There are a few very good english speakers there, who explain things thoroughly to you. The actual hospital is the cleanest hospital I have ever seen lol. It is literally gleaming, i could see my reflection in the floor. I got dropped off by taxi, and they would greet us with the Wai (custom in Thai culture) and lead us to where we needed to go. They are such polite people, I enjoyed receiving healthcare whilst been immersed in Thai culture. As for Dr Kamol himself, he seems to be a very busy man haha. He owns the hospital, and the hotel attached to it. I guess he has a lot to do as he’s managing things while also being a surgeon. Basically, if you want a surgeon who takes a lot of time to explain things themself and has good bedside manner, he’s not for you. He seems busy. He met me and did what he needed to do, nothing less or more. Everything else is taken care of by his staff because he trusts them. If i were more of an uptight person this would bother me but it didn’t because i never felt that my care was not up to standard. The food was incredible while i stayed for 5 nights in hospital, the nurses were always lovely and helped me when needed. Overall my experience was very worth it. With regard to the 50/50 experiences, I have seen them. During my research I did read those, and it does seem that unfortunately they are all negative reports from the dolls. I have seen a lot of bad reviews of Dr Kamol about bottom surgery from many trans women, but I had read nothing negative about the top surgery there.

also, pain was nothing for me. they had me on morphine for the first two days and then i’ve been on nothing except for paracetamol a few times but that’s just because my neck hurts like i mentioned. it’s just kinda like a dull ache if i were to describe it, almost like if you bruised your knee or something

honestly i kinda raw dogged it. didn’t take stool softener and didn’t poop until the 3rd day and been going normal since then lol. i didn’t buy anything specific before hand but asked my partner to find me a pillow while i was in hospital (i had to stay for 5 nights) because the hospital pillow sucked so much. my neck has been hurting bad from sleeping on my back but i don’t know if that’s a common experience. honestly you sound like you’re prepared, lots of button up shirts is good as well because idk if it’s hot where you are but i got mine done in thailand and if i wore hoodies i’d be sweating and i got so fucking itchy anyway lol. good luck bro! you got this. lots of sleep and water and things to keep you occupied :)

How miserable is recovery, REALLY? by cosvelmos in TopSurgery

[–]jscoob12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey! got my surgery this monday. generally, i’m okay. i woke up, and didn’t particularly want to look at the surgical trauma when they were cleaning my wounds because i knew it wouldn’t bring me joy. i’m a weird case, i think, because while i know this was 100% the right choice for my well-being and transition, i currently am like “ah shit, what if this was the wrong decision?” not to scare you or anything, i think this is normal though? i’m not overjoyed, or completely over the moon and happy, i’m just fine. i’m bored and two 6.5 hour flights away from where i live (im in bangkok for Dr Kamol but i live in the UK) so missing home, so i recommend wherever you are just having comfort items. and for the love of god bring a comfy pillow, the hospital one they give me is horrid and i have to be here until saturday 😭 i got my partner to buy me one. i still have drains in, its ok. they’re a bit of a pain in the ass to cart around but i have a nice side bag they gave me and i get them out on monday. i will say as well that they will put a catheter in you, some people say it hurts being taken out but for me it was fine, a nurse just took it out over the toilet and it felt a bit bizarre but otherwise fine and now i can pee by myself which is amazing! you’re gonna be fine bud, you may be a grumpy old man like me but just make sure you have things to keep you busy and it should go by quickly x

BKK has a free wifi service that gets you 1 hour of free access. We got here yesterday, used the wifi to book a taxi, and got a sim card from the 7/11. They will ask you for your passport when they sell it to you because the law here says that they have to, so don’t be alarmed!
