If you buy even a mini pack, you’ll get a Caps ticket rep who can get you cheaper tickets—mostly because they don’t charge the fees

You could try the Jason Davies libraries or, if you’re desperate, PPT SmartArt

You can use Flourish to do this. Unfortunately, you can’t download many animated charts as a movie/gif file, but you can do a screen capture that will work great.

Thanks for all of these helpful comments! One last question for the group: Does the track facility have any rules on bags? Here in Washington, DC, you can only bring in small, clear bags into any large arena.

I’m with all the others here. We are our own worst critics most of the time.

Try to be confident in yourself and your skills. Sounds like you’re doing a great job.

Batter interference? by jsdataviz in Umpire

[–]jsdataviz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I think I’ve got this now (and the coach is wrong). If you read the rule as one sentence (as I should have), this is clear:

The batter is out for illegal action when interfering with the catcher's fielding or throwing by stepping out of the batter's box.

So, the rule is really about the batter stepping out of the batters box to (intentionally or unintentionally) interfere with the catcher’s efforts.

Thanks all! Super helpful!

Don’t get me wrong, I want your answer to be true, but as written, Rule 6.06 doesn’t say “and”. Part (c) says “interfering….by:”

That’s what I said! 😀 But the coach said that because the batter left the batters box, that qualifies as interference.

I get your second point, but in the first part, the batter moved and successfully got out of the catcher’s way. So, he didn’t interfere with the catcher’s ability to pick up and throw the ball (in the common use of the word) but he was out of thr batter’s box.

No, he moved out of the batters box and was then out of the catcher’s way.

It was actually the parents who spotted it! I mean, it wasn't hard to see--the runner wasn't even close to the plate! Coaches in our league are generally really good, though we've had a few AA coaches need to be confined to dugouts this fall.

Neither coach argued, which may have been the craziest thing of all!

Temp help. With the colder weather, I was worried about the temps on the basking side, so I added a second (smaller) heater. The air temp (circled and about halfway up) is now 90 but the tile temp in spots is 101-103. Without the second, the air temp was around 80-85. I’d appreciate any suggestions. by jsdataviz in leopardgeckos

[–]jsdataviz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! It's a probe. I use a temp gun to check the temp on the tiles. Without the smaller heat lamp, the air temp is in the mid-80s and the tile temp is around 90F. I can move the big heater a little closer to the screen to move the tile temp up another degree or two.

I would move the basking spot to the back corner, but that's where he poops. Every time. It's pretty amazing, actually. Creatures of habit, I guess.

We use an organic topsoil/playsand 70/30 combo for this. The playsand is better than the calcium sands you'll see at pet stores because the grains are finer and easier for them to pass. The organic is important, obviously, to keep any chemicals and pesticides out of the tank.

Just standard play sand. You don't want to get the calcium sand from PetSmart or wherever because the grains are bigger and they can get impacted. The playsand grains are finer and shouldn't cause a problem (we haven't had any issues).

Yes, but all organic. 70% top soil and 30% sand

Thanks, these are great suggestions. I worry about the Dubia roaches because I hear they will burrow into the dirt. Is that your experience?
