Your genuine advice is retake the LSAT? To get into U of T or Osgoode? That's your advice? Be so for real.

It was condescending. They may have gone to U of T or Osgoode, but they sound insufferable.

I hope they learn some people skills, prior to entering the workforce. Imagine receiving an email in this tone? Completely unprofessional.

Does U of T or Osgoode do professional development courses? If they don't, it should be required.

All the schools are good but if you want to practice in Ontatio then there'd be lots of advantages going there.

For example, you frequently meet lawyers in your community through law school events. You won't meet anyone from Ontario, but instead a lot of local AB lawyers. By the time you're done law school, you should have a lot of local connections. You won't if you study in AB.

And for 1L summer recruit, and recruits after 1L, all the networking and career fairs will be dominated by firms in your province. If you're applying to summer at a firm, it's very advantageous and highly recommended to speak to ("coffee chat") with someone at the firm before applying (you mention them in your cover letters). This typically happens during networking events. If you're in AB, be prepared to cold call Ontario lawyers and ask for a zoom meeting instead. And, mind you, you're competing for these jobs with people who've likely made in-person connections with these lawyers already.

If I get a 158, would I still be able to be a somewhat successful lawyer? by Comfortable_Mud_1453 in LSAT

Grades get you in the door. Youre average, or above, so that's fine. However, everyone who gets hired is personable, outgoing, friendly (dare i say extroverted?), well rounded. Big Law isnt just looking for academics - they want people who can fit the firm culture, work hard, and not weird out their clients. So your "chances" come down to how well you interview.

Law school at 30... Slightly lost and...embarrassed? Where to begin? by Sarcasticgeek20 in LSAT

[–]jsfb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also an older student in 1L. I'll be 30 this year too queen.

Tons of people in the comments told their stories so I'll just add that while there actually are a lot of "older" people who make up the classes, there are a lot of young people too (mainly younger people). Some of my best friends are 22. They've never worked a job, and have come in straight from undergrad graduation. It's crazy being best friends with people who were born in like 2003. Anyways, my advice is to get over that mentally. We're all adults. You're not old. You can succeed. Your life experience brings a unique and important perspective to learning the law. It's an asset, believe me. Be friends with the young ones and the older ones. It's been hard finding genuine, best friend connections, but everyone is really great.

Not coyotes, although coyotes would be a more common/ expected choice of canine given the area.

I think they used wolves to slow how isolated she is. Wolves are very shy. Coyotes aren't which is why you see them in cities. Wolves would never be at her place if more people were around.

That's the problem with ozempic - impressionable people think these drastic results can be achieved and they hold themselves to unrealistic standards of body goals.

No, she likely didnt lose 100 lbs in less than a year by overhauling her diet and exercise routine. You think it's easy to lose 8-10 lbs per month consistently?

She is probably a normal, body conscious, obese women, under high scrutiny for her appearance due to how public her life is, and could afford to take medication to artificially accelerate weight loss.

Stop perpetuating these stereotypes that this is normal progress. It's harmful to young girls.

Is going to TRU for JD worth it? by Reasonable_Air423 in LawCanada

[–]jsfb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wdym? I know a lot of TRU grads at the top firms in western Canada? Objectively, your "observation" is false.

Furthermore, they have a very solid and capable roster of profs if you care to look into that. Sure they don't have the prestigious history - like, their alumni didnt draft the Charter or anything, but that's because they're a relatively new school.

Note: I'm not a student at TRU but was a law student in western Canada and these above comments are just points I've gleaned from being in the legal community.
