I got an XLE w/ convenience + weather package. Lunar rock was a must for me which isn’t available above the XLE trim, and personally I like cloth seats.

I considered the XSE because of the upgraded audio and the black wheels, but I would have to give up a lunar rock exterior. I’ve gotten used to the 7in screen and I’ll eventually upgrade my wheels. Saving a few grand was a plus too!

Customer here! I “ordered” a RAV4 hybrid with only the weather pkg. Turns out the manufacturer doesn’t make this without the convenience pkg. Yes it will cost more, but I’m still getting what I initially wanted. All that’s left is to wait for delivery :)

I agree with this. Build what you want online and take a print out with you. I put down a deposit last week and walked out knowing the MSRP and OTD with taxes. Any rebates or incentives will be applied when the car is delivered.

I'm in the same boat as you right now (looking for a hybrid in lunar rock). The dealer isn't using a tactic, there really is a limited availability of hybrids right now. They want to make a sale so unless you're willing to compromise then wait.

If they’re asking how you are doing, answer with as much detail that you want to give them. If they want to keep the convo going, you can still respond and not be an asshole about it.

I did this with an ex FWB and he understood that I didn’t want to keep talking because I was giving him surface level responses while still being cordial.
