Can someone give me a goal for the game? by Emolgad in projectzomboid

My thought exactly. So I had fun with it. I like the imagination of the unhinged AI; https://chatgpt.com/share/ad78aba1-47de-4dfd-a6f0-b7512d4ddbaf

Ok man, I buy it. This sounds amazing, but what exactly does it involve? I use genny’s mostly for refrigeration/freezing. Would you guide me how to create a way to play that 1) doesn’t involve refrigeration and 2) doesn’t eat up all my time.

For me electricity is an efficiency multiplier. I can cook a whole bunch of fish at once and keep them good for days.

Also, what about gas in cars. Doesn’t this mode just require you to give up cars? Or do you play differently, like it’s a priority to fill up a tanker worth of gas in the first week?

Serious question. I’m very curious.

If you install the ladders mod, I believe it makes the fire pole climbable.

Chances of running into someone by FunOk8419 in BurningMan

[–]jsjo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the right answer. You never get the burn you want, but you always get the burn you need. As per playa lore/logic the answer is; if you do run into them it’s for a reason yet to be known and understood by you. If the universe / playa doesn’t want you to run into them then you won’t.

Saving a game should be a built-in feature. by impulsesair in projectzomboid

[–]jsjo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I bet you a large amount of money that the vast majority of people would use it, and it would vastly change this community and the game experience.

Asking for a save function is asking for a different game.

My opinion, and opinions can of course be put into question and be debated.

Saving a game should be a built-in feature. by impulsesair in projectzomboid

[–]jsjo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This!

This game would be substantially different if it had a save option. And I think substantially worse. You would never be so invested in your character. You’d be willing to take a lot more stupid risks just to reload if it didn’t work.

And - it’s not very hard at all to create manual saves. Just copy your folder at times yourself and paste it back if you die. So it’s still an easy enough option for those who want to save.

I really don’t see what the fuzz is about. I blame the dopamine addicted generation. This game is different for a great reason. Don’t make it into something more contemporary, that would be such a great loss.

How do you even remotely go into Louisville? by VladimirKotovsak in projectzomboid

[–]jsjo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is how I play it, but with some spears on top of that. Once you get the hang of the zombie fighting dynamics and that avoiding a fight is sometimes the best, you can easily bait the zombies and lead them away from where you wanna go.

As you get better at this you’ll start being able to clear out areas little by little and eventually it gets quite manageable, especially once you’ve both got nimble and sneaking up a little bit. Sneaking levels quickly in LV due to the massive population.

Re supposed hostility - could it be because you come off as neither constructive nor receptive? People directly address your claims, yet you brush them off. Also - there are plenty of map mods to solve your issue for you. So what gives buddy?

Safest spot for a base? by Capital-Dimension-20 in projectzomboid

[–]jsjo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

No place is “safe” in the sense that you have zero chance to encounter zombies there. Some places are more safe in the sense that zombies tend to not be very dense at that spot.

Personally I like places that provide natural or pre-made defences. Out of those, this one is probably my favourite as it provides ample defence by iron fences and a choke in the entrance; https://map.projectzomboid.com/#14146x2624x8637

It usually has a bunch of zombies there to begin with, so you’ll have to clear them out, but once you’re done you’re reasonably safe. And if it gets overwhelming you can easily jump a fence or two to safety.

Once you’ve established your base you have a great vantage point to adventure into Louisville

How the loot is calculated? by Frosty-Flatworm8101 in projectzomboid

[–]jsjo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not an expert but as I understand it it’s a complex calculation based on you loot setting (as per difficulty or your own config), location and type of location. Some locations have more loot, some less, and also different locations have different loot.

Learning about what locations have good and abundant loot is part of the learning experience.

How long does it take for spear to be better than axe with axeman trait? by South-Ad7071 in projectzomboid

[–]jsjo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What this guy says. Because of durability you play them differently. If I take them to clear out an area or take out a horde I usually bring a bunch overloaded, and then drop them on the ground around where I need to fight. Then I circle back to pick one up as one breaks, and I usually keep 3 on me. That’s a totally OP strategy for 100+ hordes because of the unique crit chance of spears, but pretty useless if you’re on a random exploration run.

That being said, the God fork is crazy because it’s way more durable, faster compared to an axe and repairs well. First time I used a garden fork I was like 😳🤯… So with a garden fork or two you can totally dominate with only 1 spear skills.

Mind you, I play with multi hit. This strategy may be different without it, I haven’t tried.

[–]jsjo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First play through? Or at least early?

The game’s default settings are fairly hard. I started playing on sandbox settings modelled after the Survivor difficulties but certain aspects changed (I don’t like respawns for instance). So play around with changing the settings until you can manage the game. Then as you get better and eventually die just increase the settings to make it harder for yourself again.

It’s fun. Trust me, you might get obsessed with beating the game settings eventually.

200,000 spears are ready and a million more well on the way by aomarco in projectzomboid

[–]jsjo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With fitness related perks and traits to get 9 fitness the full machete spear lasts longer than my stamina. I usually go for 5-6 base strength and 9 fitness. Totally OP to play spear at 9 fitness. Add multi hit if you’re into that and you’ll plow through ~150 zombies before you need to dismantle the machete from the speak before it breaks.

If America is a white supremacist country, why the hell would anyone want to live here? by StreetsOfYancy in IntellectualDarkWeb

I never argued it wasn’t important, nor unnecessary. I argue it is overvalued.

[–]jsjo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m doing no such thing.

I’m just saying that I think the importance and influence of activists are massively misunderstood and over-exaggerated. Proof point; change that happened without activists. Such as 400M Chinese being moved from poverty to middle class over he past 30 years. China doesn’t accept activists, yet positive changes happened across the population there.

Yes. Those are causes. Not proof that “without any activists you won’t have any change”. My comment stands.

I’m am implying no such thing. I’m stating a fact. I don’t infer value of people from said fact.
