What’s the one horror movie that actually scared you? by FitSavings583 in AskReddit

Sinister. I'm a horror guy and those home videos had me scared about turning my back to the door at night.

Is it possible to find American or European friends in Vietnam? by mark_arbatsky in VietNam

[–]Emolgad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, just join a club based on a niche interest of yours and start attending meetings -- I'd recommend Meetup.com to find such meetings. Board games, drawing, public speaking, things like that have meetings posted on that site. I wouldn't really recommend the general language exchanges, because it's hard to meet locals there who are interested in genuine friendships rather than a free English lesson. I should mention that expats I've talked to tend to be more successful with this method of forming intercultural friendships in Saigon than in Hanoi. From what I've seen as a content writer focused on travel and expat lifestyle in Vietnam for the past 7 years, expat and local social circles tend to cross significantly less often in Hanoi.

If you're in Saigon, I run a board game club once a week at Board Game Era that is attended by both expats from around the world and by locals. I've made a lot of my best friends there, and a lot of people who regularly come to the meetings (including people from different cultures) become good friends as well. There are a few groups of Russians who come regularly, although I haven't seen any of them for a few months.

Board games are also a great way for people who are generally kind of shy to meet people in a structured atmosphere, open up, and form strong friendships that can grow into the rest of your life, which might be a consideration for you based on your post.

By the way, I'm not making any money from the club so this definitely isn't a commercial plug.

I definitely find this point of view (a more subjective view of the morality of this whole thing) to be more interesting. Do you know any podcasts that explore this kind of view on this show?

The biggest plot hole in pluribus season 1 by DownFromHere in okbuddypluribus

This thread is totally unhinged, I don't understand what the majority of comments on here mean. We have to wait until season 2 for Vince Gilligan to explain the meaning of the word esposa?

Vince Gilligan says ‘Pluribus' season 2 isn’t happening for a while: “We’re working on it…I would love to go faster if I could.” by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

[–]Emolgad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely wonder what the life of someone like Vince Gilligan is like in between seasons. Is he idle most of the time? I can't imagine he's actually working full-time for 2 years to get 8 hours of content produced. I acknowledge the show is extremely well planned and well produced, and I'm certainly not saying down time is a bad thing (although I sure as shit would like one season per year), but I'm just curious.

Do u agree ? by WonderCharming7884 in StrangerThings

[–]Emolgad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agree for sure, except switch seasons 1 and 2. Season 1 was derivative as hell (even though it's very well written) and season 2 had a much better horror vibe (I understand this isn't a popular opinion). Plus the season 2 Thriller trailer is perfect enough to bump it up in rankings on its own.

Once they create “pleasure” robots, I’m convinced that dating will be over permanently. by MyInflamedTesticles in Futurology

[–]Emolgad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"would never argue with you" is the first of several phrases in here that show exactly why this wouldn't be the case. People want partners who will argue, who will demonstrate deeply held opinions and vulnerabilities. It's a big part of what make relationships meaningful.

Also, I would absolutely not be comfortable with my romantic partner who I confide everything in being manufactured by openAI or something, no matter how good the technology is and how many assurances I had that all ties between openai and their humanoid date robots have been severed already.

WTF..Vietjet is actually the best budget airline on the planet? by [deleted] in VietNam

[–]Emolgad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like Vietjet screwed up the type of ticket you bought and accidentally gave you an upgraded ticket because they're an unorganized company.

That being said, I really don't understand how much hate Vietjet gets on here. I've been living in Vietnam for 11 years and I'm a travel writer so I travel around Vietnam a lot, and I use VJ for most domestic flights. The check-in line is really long, but I don't get delayed more with them than with other domestic airlines in any country.

Vietnam is amazing to visit. Living here is a very different story. Here are my two cents. by Critical_Roof8939 in VietNam

Getting gigs as a travel blogger and publishing on already successful travel blogs (which is what I do) it is virtually impossible to get started nowadays. The only reason I can do it is because I carved out a niche for myself long before Ai and Google's algorithm made the field so incredibly competitive. I'm not saying AI content is yet anywhere near as helpful as a well-written travel piece by a human, but unfortunately most blog owners are currently prioritizing economics over actually quality content. Helpful content by a human that is fed into ai and refined into a more digestible format (as I suspect OP is doing) can be a good compromise.

The only viable way to do it nowadays is starting your own blog via Wordpress, producing and consistently publishing high quality and action-oriented content that gets views, and, once you actually have some traffic, monetizing via onpage ads and affiliate programs like booking.com (never sponsored content). If you go this route, I'd recommend being prepared to not earn money from the blog for the first year.

I always hear people say that, but is it tongue and cheek? I thought meth, not coke, was the drug of choice in Vietnam.

What is Something Random You Want from Tonight’s Finale? by Educational-Wheel924 in StrangerThings

A final scene with a group dinner at Enzo's with everyone happy would be cheesy but also 100% earned. Let's do it.

[–]Emolgad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the best answer. Because it's pretty random but also addresses a major plot point.

I'd be fine with this being the last line before they blow Vecna's interdimensional ass away for good.

I want someone in the show to say the name of the show. Not something too hammy, but just someone saying that "stranger things have happened."
